Greetings!
If you suffer from a mid-life mid-section metabolic
slump, be encouraged that you can change! The
food you eat, your stress levels, and the activities
you choose (or don't choose) will "set" your
metabolism each day. You don"t need to hire a
personal trainer and chef like Oprah Winfrey to
reinvent your physique! You need only an
understanding of which simple choices will encourage
a healthy metabolism, and which ones will block it.

Mid-section weight gain

Mid-section weight gain, and other types of weight
gain, are controlled by more than just excess
calories. They come from high blood sugar levels
caused
by habitual consumption of refined sugar, starch,
caffeine, and from stress! When the body has high
blood sugar levels, it also puts up a roadblock against
fat
burning. Therefore if you are stressed out, highly
caffeinated, or have just consumed a sweet or
starchy snack or meal, your body will be unable to
burn fat for many hours. Conversely, if your blood
sugar
levels are balanced and you are active, you will be
able to utilize your stored energy a.k.a. fat for
immediate fuel. It is then that you will experience
the extraordinary sensation of fat burning!

Reverse weight gain by choosing foods carefully, reducing stress, and exercising.

Low glycemic foods and beverages result in a mild
blood sugar increase, which fosters insulin balance,
necessary for weight loss. Low glycemic foods are
non-starchy vegetables, healthy fats and natural
animal protein. Blood sugar modulating beverages
include water and tea (green and herbal). Make sure
that when you are out of the house, you prepare
with healthy low glycemic foods and water, so that
when hunger strikes, you are not dependant on
typical snack foods.
Stress also affects your ability to lose weight. Your
perception is the key. In other words, if you feel
stressed or overextended, that is all it takes to
elevate your insulin and cortisol levels, which block
weight loss. Actively reduce stress with techniques
such as yoga, meditation and religious practice- all
effective and popular stress relievers. Simple
breathing techniques practiced throughout the day
are an excellent and practical way to diffuse stress
and assist in your weight loss!
Do not forget to exercise! Even though research
shows that exercise alone is an ineffective way to
lose weight, exercise in tandem with healthy eating is
a total body health solution. Exercise reduces insulin
levels, improves cell sensitivity to insulin, reduces
cravings, relieves stress, improves circulation, and
increases metabolism via muscle growth! Find the
right type of exercise for you, and dont be afraid to
change your routine as you experience new levels of
fitness and health.
By following the simple tips discussed in this article,
you can improve your metabolism and total health!
