Dear Members, Family and Friends:

You will soon be receiving a membership renewal letter and form as an email if we have your email address or through the U.S. Mail if not. All St. Louis Second Wind memberships renew on January 1.

For those who can, and wish to support the activities of the Saint Louis Second Wind Lung Transplant Association, a stakeholder membership category is available for a minimum $25.00 annual family donation.  New members may join at any time.

We hold an IRS 501(c)(3) tax designation, thus your donation is eligible for deduction on the Federal tax return. If you are interested in continuing to be an active member, but find paying the dues prohibitive, please contact me and indicate an amount that you are able to pay or request a one-year waiver. You can reach me by phone by calling 314.664.6360 or by email, tea3440@sbcglobal.net

All transplant patients and caregivers may receive our e-mail newsletter without paying annual dues or becoming a member of Second Wind. Subscribers need only provide us with their name, street address, telephone number and e-mail address. Our goal is to make vital information available to as many people as possible. Stakeholder members who do not have email may request printed copies of newsletters delivered by regular US mail.

As a member of Second Wind St. Louis Transplant Association you:

  1. Receive the Second Wind St. Louis monthly e-newsletter;
  2. Have voting privileges at all Business Meetings;
  3. Are eligible to hold an office in the association;
  4. Receive e-mail updates on breaking transplant news;
  5. Receive information on local education and awareness events;
  6. Are involved in educational and donor awareness efforts;
  7. Join in providing assistance to members and their families in need;
  8. Are part of fundraising efforts to provide financial assistance to those listed at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Although we are located and meet in St. Louis, we have members from many areas around the county.

You may renew your membership or join for the first time by completing all sections(both sides) of the Membership Application you will soon be  receiving, and return it to the address on the form. Enclose a check for $25.00 made payable to Second Wind.

Please seriously consider making a donation to Second Wind at this time as well, and include this amount with your dues. Your donation is greatly appreciated! We can't survive without you.

It is my sincere hope that you will renew your membership, or join St. Louis Second Wind Lung Transplant Association.

Fondly,

Tom Archer

Transplant Anniversaries

By Jan and Larry Kwasigroh

The Ultimate Gift

This is the time of year when folks are out shopping for the very special gift for their loved ones.  However, the ultimate gift comes from someone unknown and without reservation.  And that is the gift of continued life for one known only as a number until the donation reaches its destination.  Sadness for the donor, comfort and compassion for the donor's family and unbelievable gratitude from the recipient makes December a month of reflection and revelation.  For the 14 Second Wind members celebrating their transplant anniversary we say "Happy Holidays!" and a blessed New Year!

Vehicle Donation Program

to Benefit St. Louis Second Wind

The Second Wind Board of Directors are excited about this opportunity to raise much needed funds for St. Louis Second Wind. We are teaming with Charitable Auto Resources to make this program possible. Charitable Auto Resources CARS™ is a service oriented car donation management program based in San Diego, California. They accept vehicle donations in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

If you have questions regarding the St. Louis Second Wind Vehicle Donation Program or if you would like to start the donation process please call the CARS donation line toll free at 1.877.537.5277 or visit their web site charitableautoresources.com. Tell them you wish to donate a vehicle to Second Wind and they will take it from there.

 They will do all the work when it comes to answering phone calls and questions, having cars towed and selling them. St. Louis Second Wind will receive 70% of profits from the sale of each car, boat, RV, truck, camper, airplane, and more.
It is not too late to make a donation of a vehicle and benefit Second Wind and take advantage of the charitable donation on your 2010 tax return. As long as you start the paper work in 2010, you can use the deduction in 2010.

This is an excellent opportunity for both the donor and Second Wind. If you are not in a situation to make a donation now, please tell your family and friends and forward this email to everyone in your address book and encourage them to support Second Wind.
