New Family involved with Supportive Housing!Pay it Forward!
Our Supportive Housing Program will have a new family aboard in August and is in need of a mentor for this family. Our new family is a family of 5 from Egypt. They have a first grade girl, a 4 year old boy and a baby boy born in April. They are well educated and have a good grasp of the English language but would be very grateful for help with conversational English. They would also enjoy becoming more involved in the community. A mentor with our Supportive Housing Program is supported by the committee and training is provided. It is a very rewarding role. Minimum requirements are phone contact with the family once per week and in person visit once per month. If you are interested in this opportunity or would like more information, please call Cindy at 439-2641.

Conversation Starter Class On Wednesday, August 8th, 6:30 - 8:30 in the Parish Hall we will have another training.
Conversations with people we know are the key to changing hearts and minds. Despite all the media attention, marriage for same-sex couples is an issue many people haven't had a chance to really discuss. You can open that door.
The kinds of conversations we need to have can be tough. This training will prepare you for these conversations and help you make a plan to get started. All are welcome, please RSVP to Jen Truman at mnunited.org/faithconversationsjtruman@comcast.net.

Summer Coffee Hour
Thanks to all the volunteers that organized coffee hour these past few months. During the summer months, there is no organized coffee hour, but if you would like to make coffee and bring treats, please do so.
Please note, that because there is no formal summer coffee hour, there are no volunteers to clean up. If you do decide to have an informal coffee hour or if you are the last to leave the building, PLEASE clean up afterwards: empty coffee pots, wash the dishes and wipe down the counters and tables. The directions for the dishwasher are posted on the machine
Thank you for being considerate of all that use the kitchen during the week and expect a clean kitchen when they arrive to do their work, especially Our Community Kitchen. |
