Come join us this Monday evening at Manwaring and be a part of a conversation drive with Minnesotans United for All Families. We will be calling known supporters to ask them to volunteer with us in order to build the largest grassroots campaign in Minnesota. Each conversation drive includes a training on how to talk to supporters and undecided voters and ends with a group debrief. This is a really important contribution can you be making to the effort to defeat the marriage amendment. For more information contact Jen Truman @ 651-303-3677 or jtruman@comcast.net.

MN United for All Families
Conversation Training at
Trinity Lutheran Church

on Monday, June 25,
6:30-8:30 p.m.

Conversations with people are the key to changing hearts and minds. Despite all the media attention, marriage for same-sex couples is an issue many people haven't had a chance to really discuss. You can open that door. You can be an ear for people to talk about this important issue affecting all Minnesotans. This training will prepare you for these conversations and help you make a plan to get started.

Trinity Lutheran is supported in this effort by Episcopal Church of the Ascension, St. Peter's United Church of Christ, and First United Methodist.

bernard mizeki
Bernard Mizeki
Catechist and Martyr in Africa (18 June 1896)

Bernard Mizeki was born in Portuguese East Africa (Mozambique) in about 1861. When he was twelve or a little older, he left his home and went to Capetown, South Africa, where for the next ten years he worked as a laborer, living in the slums of Capetown, but (perceiving the disastrous effects of drunkenness on many workers in the slums) firmly refusing to drink alcohol, and remaining largely uncorrupted by his surroundings. After his day's work, he attended night classes at an Anglican school. Under the influence of his teachers, from the Society of Saint John the Evangelist (SSJE, an Anglican religious order for men, popularly called the Cowley Fathers), he became a Christian and was baptized on 9 March 1886. Besides the fundamentals of European schooling, he mastered English, French, high Dutch, and at least eight local African languages. In time he would be an invaluable assistant when the Anglican church began translating its sacred texts into African languages.
