Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the 2011-2012 school year.  The new school year will soon be upon us.  We look forward to welcoming our students back to school.  The opening day for students is scheduled for Tuesday, September 6th.  Throughout the summer, we have been busy preparing for the new academic year.  The EMS staff and I are excited about the new school year and anxious to begin.  We are committed to providing your child with a challenging, comprehensive, and enriching learning experience in a positive and nurturing school environment.

As previously indicated, electronic communications will replace monthly mailings.  The EMS News and School Report will be delivered electronically bi-weekly.  Additionally, student schedules, report cards, and interim notices will be available through the Genesis Parent Module.  A chart with specific dates is available on the school website.  As has been our past practice, EMS provides students and parents with homework, grades, and academic calendars through electronic means.  All EMS teachers are required to maintain an electronic gradebook which parents may access through the Genesis System.  Homework is posted on individual teacher websites and monthly academic calendars are available through the school website.

Again, I am anxious for the new school year to begin.  I encourage you to be an active member of our school community as we welcome parent involvement at the middle school level.  Enjoy the remainder of your summer.  The EMS staff and I look forward to welcoming your child on Tuesday, September 6th as we begin a new school year.

Sincerely,

Kathryn A. Glutz
