Japanese Maples for Spectacular Fall Color
There's nothing like a planting of Japanese maples against a backdrop of conifers to give your fall garden a bit of pizzazz! Japanese maples grow best in protected areas where harsh winter winds can't damage them. They thrive with morning sun and afternoon shade or dappled light. We have over a hundred different cultivars available.

Acer palmatum 'Emperor I'
Choose from 'Emperor I' or 'Bloodgood' for a large upright form with deep red color throughout the summer. The thinner leaves of 'Emperor I' glow brightly in the sunlight.

Acer shirasawanum 'Green Flag' bark Acer shirasawanum 'Green Flag' is a pretty green-leaved form with upright growth. The bark is a lovely mottled gray.
Acer shirasawanum 'Yasemin' 'Yasemin' is one of the Full Moon Maples with red leaves that turns a bronzy-green in summer and then back to red for fall. | Acer buergerianum 'Tancho' |
And we have a truly unique maple. 'Tancho' is a form of trident maple with inward curling leaves. Yes, at first glance you might think the tree is drying up! But it starts to grow on you as you look at the details, like the contrast of the green leaves against the peach-red petioles. |
