Conifers at RFWP
This is our 23rd year of supplying superior dwarf conifers and rare plants to the gardening public. 2011 has been a excellent year at Rich's Foxwillow Pines Nursery with a tremendous amount of new growth on the trees and great public response to the beauty of the plants. Our inventory has incredible diversity with thousands of the rarest plants on earth being selected from our years of grafting. Dozens of varieties of dwarf Colorado spruce (Jerry Morris Rocky Mountain selections), white spruce, and white pines are ready to market. Above ground now ready to plant are several sizes of columnar Norway spruce, Picea abies 'Cupressina' - great for a privacy fence or narrow space. Explore a wonderful crop of Larix kaempferi 'Diana' and several varieties of European beech if you want decidous trees. We have 61 varieties of Ginkgo biloba in stock, featuring 'Saratoga' with a dense intermediate rounded form or dwarf 'Jade Butterfly' with a slow-growing, dense habit. |

Colors of Summer
Summer offers a gorgeous feast of colors with conifers, dwarf maples and beeches. The midday sun lights up a tricolor beech in pinks, reds and purples, and a fullmoon maple glows chartreuse against an ancient weeping willow.

Acer shirasawanum

Lemon-yellow new growth still shines on a lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta 'Taylor's Sunburst').

Hosta Happening

Domingo Barrios, Susan Eyre, Rich Eyre
Margaret Eyre "Hosta Queen"
|
The June Hosta Happening to benefit Heifer Foundation drew crowds of people, and boxes and bags full of hostas were carted to vehicles. By mid-afternoon the hosta patch was looking a bit empty, and donations to the Heifer Foundation were substantial. Domingo Barrios of the Heifer Foundation was on hand all day to answer questions about their work.
Mark Zilis of Q&Z Nursery informed and amused the hosta enthusiasts with his talk, and followed that with a rousing auction of miniature plants.
