The Wizard of Awe Where is your yellow brick road?
"No one saves us but ourselves. No one can and no one may. We ourselves must walk the path."
-- Siddhartha
I happen to love Kundalini yoga so I do it often. You, on the other hand, may not take to Kundalini yoga. Maybe you're all about "hot" yoga, something I have never been drawn to mostly for fear that during a peak pose other people's sweat will fly off of them and onto me. Then there is always the possibility that (*gasp*) you don't care for any kind of yoga. Perhaps you prefer gardening or hiking to feel centered and connected to your highest self. Maybe you play an instrument or paint or sing and that brings forth your deepest meditative experience.
To that I say: fantastic! My point is that there is no one path that is The Way. Kundalini yoga is not "better" than hot yoga or hiking. It's simply the best tool I have found for getting myself together and feeling good. If it didn't work for me, I can guarantee I would not do it. Nor would I bother every year to haul my butt up 7,500 feet above sea level to camp and meditate in the dry, dusty heat for 10 days (which I am doing as you read this) if it didn't bring me serious benefits. It's challenging as hell but, for me, it really works...so this girly-girl, who prefers mani-pedis and air-conditioning to "roughing it," now owns her own tent and cot. |
