Target Media Partners to put out calendar with proceeds for TAT
Target Media Partners is publishing a calendar where 25 percent of the proceeds will go to TAT. They are looking for sponsors, one for each month of the year. Celadon and Quality Carriers purchased two months at GATS, and several other companies have expressed interest in purchasing a month.
Tango Transport and C.R. England to use TAT materials
Tango Transport has agreed to use TAT's training video as part of their training program for their drivers, and we mailed them 600 wallet cards for their drivers.
C.R. England also plans on using the DVD as part of their training, and we mailed out 10,000 wallet cards for their drivers. Thank you Tango Transport and C.R. England for helping to spread the word and taking part in the fight against human trafficking.

Truck driver and truckstop partner to fight human trafficking
A truck driver who noticed a young girl at a truckstop in Kansas, notified the management of the truckstop, who in turn called the police, which led to the rescue of a 16-year-old girl who had been trafficked. THANK YOU, Drivers and Truck Stop Employees, for making the call and saving a life!

Hello friends and supporters,

We've been keeping busy as we near the end of 2011. We're excited to see how TAT continues to grow, and we're so thankful for each and every one of you who provides us the support we need. The fight against human trafficking is never-ending, and we're proud to have the eyes and ears of our nation's highways on our side in the fight. Each of you makes a difference. Thank you.

Truckers Against Trafficking

TAT receives its 501c3 status from the IRS

In September, Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) became officially recognized as a 501c3 organization by the IRS.

Begun in 2009 as an initiative of Chapter 61 Ministries,an organization founded to fight issues of injustice with an emphasis on human trafficking, TAT has been steadily succeeding in its mission. It now requires a greater investment of both people and financial capital to help it realize its goal of educating, equipping, empowering and mobilizing the trucking industry to fight human trafficking.

Kendis Paris has assumed TAT's leadership role as full-time national director. See the related article on TAT board members down below.

As a result of this action and to devote sufficient thought, time and energies to TAT, Chapter 61 Ministries will be dissolved by the end of the year. We would encourage those people who have graciously donated to the work of Chapter 61 Ministries to continue giving, but please contribute to Truckers Against Trafficking at PO Box 816, Englewood, CO 80151.

Great American Trucking Show (GATS) results

TAT attended the Great American Trucking Show (GATS) in Dallas on Aug. 25-27. Accompanied by 10 members from the iEmpathize team, we set up a multi-media booth, which included two 5X8 canvases, a 42-inch TV continuously playing our four-minute trailer and artifacts from trafficking victims.

In addition to the larger and more elaborate booth/exhibit, we held our first TAT press conferenceto publicly introduce our trucking industry training video and present the trucker who made the call resulting in the rescue of the human trafficking victim featured in the film. At the conference, trucking radio personality, Dave Nemo spoke about the role the trucking industry can play in the fight against human trafficking. We introduced our film and the TAT members who were present as well as fielded questions from the people who attended.

During GATS, America's second-largest annual trucking conference, Dave Nemo interviewed TAT members. We also passed out over 6000 wallet cards and more than 100 DVDs and posters. We made many new contacts, and received a lot of interest from trucking companies all over the country who had not previously heard of us.

iEmpathize, which shows the issue of human trafficking through art and media, took a series of trucker portraits during the weekend and chronicled their stories. We hope to use these on our website in the future.

We enjoyed our time at GATS meeting with truck drivers, trucking companies and many other industry representatives. We're looking forward to the Mid-American Trucking Show in March 2012.

TAT at 1st Annual Truck Driver Social Media Convention in October

TAT will be in Tunica, MS on October 15, 2011 for the first annual Truck Driver Social Media Convention. The convention's goal is to unite CDL professional drivers and those who support them. The convention will have discussions and presentations covering government regulations, truckers' rights, careers, health, and much more. TAT will have a booth, and we will be there representing our support of Jason's Law.

TAT Speaks Out in Texas

TAT member, Crystal Chandler, spoke at the Converse City Council County Chambers at the City Hall complex in Converse, TX in July on the subject of human trafficking. In attendance were members of the city council, the Converse Police Department's police chief, a majority of the police force, members of the city's volunteer patrol group and various members of the Converse community.

Chandler took the group through a discussion on the definition of human trafficking as it exists today, asked and answered numerous questions and finished with a discussion of what human trafficking looks like presently in the United States and in the state of Texas. She showed a portion of the TAT training video and was pleased with the interest people showed in wanting to know more about human trafficking, and what they could do to help in the fight against it.

By working with members of the law enforcement community, we can help raise awareness about human trafficiking and how to deal with it when it is encountered.

What is TAT?

Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) is a non-profit organization created to educate and raise awareness among members of the trucking industry about the issue of domestic sex trafficking. To a great extent, domestic sex trafficking occurs along our nation's highways and at its truck stops, where traffickers can sell their victims to a transient population they believe are less likely to attempt rescue. In response, TAT is asking the 3.5 million domestic truckers, as well as other members of the trucking industry, to become aware of this issue, and, when they suspect a human trafficking case, to call the national hotline and report it.
