Training video is now available!!

We are thrilled to announce that our training video is complete and available for download and use. This is a first-of-its-kind training DVD on human trafficking and the critical role members of the trucking/travel plaza industry can have in fighting it.

The DVD features interviews with the FBI, a prosecuting attorney, truckers who have seen human trafficking taking place on their routes, a trafficking victim rescued from a truck stop through the call of a trucker, actual footage of prostituted women at a travel plaza and information on concrete ways members of the trucking/travel plaza industry can fight this crime in the course of their daily work. It was produced by iEmpathize, an arts and advocacy non profit (www.iempathize.comthat creates opportunities for people to explore and engage in issues of injustice.

What can I do?

How do you know if someone is a victim of human trafficking? Some signs could include:

· Few or no personal possessions.
· Lack of knowledge about their community or
  whereabouts.
· Not in control of their own identification
  documents (ID/passport).
· Restricted or controlled communication - not allowed
to speak for self/third party insists on interpreting.
· Signs of malnourishment.
· Demeanor: fear, anxiety, depression, submissive,
  tense, nervous.
· Unpaid or paid very little. Not in control of own money.

Ask the right questions:

· Where were you living before you started working here?
· Were you recruited? Were you promised anything?
· Are you being paid?
· Are you being watched or followed?
· Are you free to leave? Come and go as you please?
· Are you physically or sexually abused?
· Are you or your family threatened? What is the nature
  of these threats?
· How many hours do you work each day?
· What are your living conditions?
· Where do you eat and sleep?

Report the incident:

· Call the National Hotline at 1-888-373-7888
· Report by email: Report@PolarisProject.org

What is TAT?

Truckers Against Trafficking (www.truckersaginsttrafficking.com) is an initiative of Chapter 61 (www.chapter61.com) to educate and raise awareness among members of the trucking industry about the issue of domestic sex trafficking. To a great extent, domestic sex trafficking occurs along our nation's highways and at its truck stops, where traffickers can sell their victims to a transient population they believe are less likely to attempt rescue. In response, Chapter 61 Ministries is asking the 3.5 million domestic truckers, as well as other members of the trucking industry, to become aware of this issue, and, when they suspect a human trafficking case, to call the national hotline and report it.
