         Brewery News

Surf' Brewery served beer at the Kitchen in Oxnard as they celebrated their appearance in the nationally televised program 'Diners, Drive-ins and Dives' on Food Network, hosted by Guy Fieri. Here local restaurants, breweries and wineries offered sampling of their wares. Big-screen TVs to watch the episode, music by a DJ and a red-carpeted entrance added to the party atmosphere.

The surf crew has brewed another batch of the German Pilsner and thought we should give it a name; Ankle Slapper, a small fun little wave breaking down at your ankles that can be enjoyed in the Summer Season.   Our label artist, Craig   Tyler did a bang-up job with the artwork!

Surf Brewery has bottled Mondos Cream Ale!   There are now 3 different Surf beers that can be purchased in restaurants and stores,  throughout the community, as well as in the home brew shop inside  the brewery.

Our Black IPA now has a new name!  Simlply, Surf Black IPA;  same beer, new name.

Surf Brewery has reopened on Tuesday nights--4:00- 9:00pm.

Congratulations go out to our Homebrew Contest Winners!

 California Beer History Fact:

In Chico, homebrewing supply shop owner Ken Grossman was inspired by New Albion Brewery.  In 1979 he founded Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, purchasing  some used brewing equipment that others had outgrown.   This homebrewer-turned-pro-brewer pushed the limits in 1980 with his breakthrough Sierra Nevada Ale-

a beer that, likely more than any other, had schooled the nation

on the new California style.

California Surfing History Fact:

By the 1950's legendary Dale "The Hask" Velzy opened California's first surfboard shop in Manhattan Beach.  Soon after surfing exploded

in popularity.
