         Brewery News

Surf Brewery participated in the 8th annual David Mann Chopperfest, a motorcycle event held at the Ventura County Fairgrounds. This event featured a motorcycle swap meet, live music, a motorcycle show, art exhibit, vendors, and much more. Surf Brewery was the craft beer provider. It proved to be a fun filled day for the whole family with all sorts of cool stuff on two wheels.

Beer Pairing Dinner dinners have become a frequent event for Surf Brewery. In December we were at the Crowne Plaza, located at Surfer's Point overlooking the ocean, and Zoey's Café in downtown Ventura.

At the Majestic Theater in downtown Ventura, Surf Brewery poured beer at their The Band Buffet entertainment and concert series. Brunch was provided by one of Ventura's favorite restaurants, the recently re-opened Franky's Place. This Band Buffet concert series unveiled a luminous stage that became a magnet for uproarious applause and fist pumps as two bands took the stage--'Which One's Pink and 'Candy-0'. A donation box was also made available to collect toys for children who will be in the hospital this holiday season who have had, or are waiting to have an organ transplant.

An additonal food truck has been frequenting Surf Brewery!-- 'It's in the Sauce BBQ'.  They  divulge their BBQ sauce is a family recipe that originated in Southeast Texas. This sauce delivers a tangy yet mild sweet flavor that is perfect for enhancing the flavor of any smoked meat.  It's aroma perrmeates the whole parking lot! They specialize in Pork Ribs, Tri-Tip, Pork and Chicken with mouth watering sides of link sausages and BBQ Beans; all for a very reasonable price.

Surf Brewery is offering a Beginning Beer Making class every quarter and are looking for dates for 2012. Stay in touch with our homebrew shop at
Facebook.com/surf homebrew.

Live music will become a weekly event at Surf Brewery beginning January 21, every Saturday at 6pm.  Larry the guitarist,  rocked the house in the Tasting Room on New Years Eve.

A great pairing at Zoey's Cafe.

Duck confit paired with County Line Rye Pale Ale, bison slider matched with Surf Patrol Black IPA, and pork belly paired with Shaka XPA.

 California Beer History Fact:

Anchor Liberty Ale, introduced in 1975, was among the first modern U.S . commercial beers to utilize dry
hopping specifically to give a strong dose of hop aroma and flavor to the finished ale.  This technique is wildly used today in American

craft ales, IPAs and double IPAs.

California Surfing History Fact:

The 1930's saw the rise of surf clubs in major surfing areas in California.  During this time Tom Blake patented the Hollow Surfboard and it went into production.  World War II

halted most surfing innovation
for a few years.
