Students Meet with President Carver
The Student Government Association (SGA) hosted "Pizza with President Carver" last week to give students an opportunity to ask questions and provide input. "This was a great opportunity for the student body to both get to know Dr. Carver, and receive some answers to their questions. It was such a success that we plan on holding similar Q&A sessions with various departments such as financial aid in the next few months," NCC Counselor and SGA Advisor Michael Coleman said.
All students are encouraged to participate in SGA activities including various fundraisers, an Annual Christmas Luncheon and Spring Fling and community projects such as American Red Cross blood drives. Nash Community College is a member of the North Carolina Comprehensive Community College Student Government Association (N4CSGA).________________________________________________________

Children Learn About Fire Safety
NCC's Betsy B. Currin Child Development Center students received a lesson on fire safety yesterday from Shannon Orndorff, North Carolina Department of Insurance Office of State Fire Marshal Fire & Rescue Training Specialist. Located on the Nash Community College campus, the Five Star Center provides quality early education for children six weeks to five years of age and serves as a model training program for students and the community.
NCC Early Childhood Education and Nursing students serve as interns in the Center. Additionally, classrooms are staffed with teachers who hold an Associate or Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or a related field. Teacher assistants must hold the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential and the staff attends conferences, workshops, and training for continued development.
