Employee Enters Art Contest

An original stained glass piece by artist and NCC Administrative Secretary Denise Hill was recently submitted as part of an art exhibition at the North Carolina Community College System Office in Raleigh. Denise works in the Office of the Dean of Instruction.

Her art titled "Interlocking Joy" is one of more than 100 pieces of art including paintings, sculpture, photography, ceramics, drawings, mixed media, stained glass, needlework, basket and double-weave cotton textiles.

The North Carolina Community College System Office began the annual art exhibition in 1998 as a way to display and encourage the talents of community college artists.

The art is exhibited throughout the Caswell Building, located at 200 W. Jones Street, in downtown Raleigh and is open for public viewing.

Hill was the 2010 Nash Community College Staff Award recipient and has been employed with the college since 2001.

Plant Leaders Visit Machining Department

Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant leaders visited Nash Community College's Zifferer Family New Standard Corporation Machining Technology Center last week to discuss the possibility of an internship program for NCC Machining Technology students. The program would allow students to put real world training into action and would serve as an additional source of skilled employees for Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant.

NCC Machining Technology instructor George Shook speaks with Cummins Rocky Mount Engine Plant representatives (clockwise, from left): Machining Business Manager, Business B Calvin Ballance, NCC Machining Instructor Justin Cole, Machining Business Manager, Business A Ralph Emerson, and Machining Director & Deputy Plant Manager Stephane Williams.
