EMS Grads Look Forward to Positive Job Outlook
Nash Community College is pleased to announce its January 2011 Emergency Medical Services EMT and Paramedic graduates. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for emergency medical technicians and paramedics is expected to increase between now and 2018 as a result of higher call volume due to an aging population, an increase in time required for each patient and an increase in specializing hospitals resulting in more patient transport. The Nash Community College Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class includes 179 hours of classroom and lab instruction and 24 hours of field training. The EMT class is designed to train individuals to become emergency medical personnel. The class teaches patient assessments, basic life support techniques, CPR including AED use, airway management with basic and advanced airway with 02 administration, hemorrhage control, treating shock, bandaging/dressing, splinting, treating traumatic injuries, childbirth, lifting/moving techniques, transferring of patients to medical facilities, treating environmental emergencies and basic life support for medical emergencies. The 1,099-hour Paramedic course includes advanced classroom and clinical instruction and a field internship. EMT Class
