Greetings!
Hope this newsletter finds you and your family in good health! I want to thank everyone who attended the Tea Gallerie open house last month, the event was a success and there were a good number of folks who showed up for free chair massage, tea tastings and other goodies. Don't worry if you missed the last one, Maria Alto (owner of Tea Gallerie) has informed me she plans on hosting another tea party in the future. Speaking of tea, there's a great product recommendation here in the newsletter I think you'll really enjoy!

I'm still in the process of creating my web presence to help build my practice. One way to achieve a higher rank on internet search is having reviews from satisfied clients. There are two places I'm collecting reviews, one is HERE (google) and the other is HERE (yelp).  To show my appreciation for your help in building my business, I will mail you a gift certificate for a 30 minute massage that you can use for yourself or give to a family member or friend.

Warmly,
Rajam Roose, HHP

What is a Reflexology session?

reflexology

Reflexology consists of using thumb and finger compressions along all aspects of the foot. While many reflexologists believe there are points on the feet that correspond with various organs and systems of the body there isn't any scientific research to back up any of those claims.  When in concern for any health issues, it's more appropriate to visit your physician for a check up.

Although the idea of reflex points connecting to various parts of the body are questionable, there is no doubt that there is a lot of connective tissue that encompass the body and attach to the feet. My reflexology training encouraged the idea that reflexology does affect the organs of the body but I prefer to believe that reflexology is most helpful because it works all the muscles of the foot; relieving the achy tiredness we get from using our feet all day.

The human foot combines mechanical complexity and structural strength. The ankle serves as foundation, shock absorber, and propulsion engine. The foot can sustain enormous pressure and provides flexibility and resiliency.

The foot and ankle contain:

  • 26 bones (One-quarter of the bones in the human body are in the feet.)
  • 33 joints
  • more than 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments (Tendons are fibrous tissues that connect muscles to bones and ligaments are fibrous tissues that connect bones to other bones.)
  • a network of blood vessels, nerves, skin, and soft tissue.

These components work together to provide the body with support, balance, and mobility. This is why a reflexology session can be extremely relaxing and give the overall feeling of health and well-being.

At my office, your reflexology session takes place in a zero gravity chair. You remain fully clothed and I will provide heat packs for the neck, low back, abdomen and feet (if desired). The session can be anywhere from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on which one you schedule. After using reflexology on each foot, I use a few minutes of general massage to the feet followed by application of hot towels. The sessions are extremely relaxing and therein lies the therapeutic benefit of a reflexology session.

Reflexology is a great bodywork choice for those clients who either don't enjoy massage (but desire the stress relieving benefits of bodywork) or would prefer to remain fully clothed. Reflexology is also a great choice for those clients who are uncomfortable laying on a massage table for any length of time. You may also choose to add reflexology to your massage or other spa session.

Check It Out!

timolino tea

If you enjoy drinking tea, you'll really like this tea carafe. It holds about two cups of tea. You just put in a couple spoonfuls of your favorite loose leaf tea and add hot water. After steep time is complete, you just set the carafe on top of your cup and the tea drains directly into your cup and the ultra-fine filter keeps the leaves out. No more cleaning out messy muslin tea bags!

This item can be found on the Tea Gallerie's website, you can click HERE to order. I'm also pleased to announce that I now carry some of Tea Gallerie's fantastic tea blends at my office. Since I purchased my little tea carafe, I can have tea anytime of the day at my office. If you'd like to see this nifty gadget, just ask and I'll show you how it works!
