YHOP Donation FormHello,,

Summer can be a tough time for food banks as donation drives aren't as numerous. BUT the need still exists. Did you know that "cash beats cans" for organizations like the Palatine Township Food Pantry who are affiliated with the Greater Chicago Food Depository. In fact, every $1 donated translates into $5 of food buying power.

The Food Pantry accepts all non-perishable and monetary donations at the Palatine Township Center, 721 S. Quentin Road, Palatine, between 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday - Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturdays. If you've got a summer food drive going on, please call 847.358.6121 prior to delivery to assist in making the necessary arrangements.

I'm proud to make my $100 donation to the Palatine Township NFF Food Pantry in support of the efforts by Youth Hunger Opposition in Palatine. You can do so as well by simply writing YHOP on the memo link of your check. This group of area youth is truly making a difference in our community.

I'm looking forward to exploring a few different on-going volunteer opportunities and would love to hear about what organizations you support with your time. Click on my Facebook page, and tell me about your favorite.

Looking for a Great Budget Tool?
Considering I work with disclosure statements and the like almost daily, it's not shocking that I use the tools personally as well. I've been using the Disclosure Statement from the Circuit Court of Cook County for my personal budget tool because it accounts for everything. To check it out:

Google "Disclosure Statement from the Circuit Court of Cook County" and the  third item should be the clickable PDF. Or for the link, email me as the address has a lot of numbers in it, and my eNews provider flags those as spam.
It's a LAW! Did you know?
Two new laws targeting distracted driving, initiated last year by Secretary of State Jesse White, took effect January 1. Public Act 96-130 bans text messaging while driving. Public Act 96-131 bans cell phone use while driving in school and construction zones.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that at least 25 percent of police-reported crashes involve some form of driver inattention. The penalty for violating either of these measures results in a moving violation on your driving record as well as accompanying fines and court costs to be determined by the judge.
