"Wake-Up" program cuts energy costs To reduce electric bills, a Tobin Solutions client began shutting down computers at night. This helped the company "go green" by reducing power consumption and had the added benefit of significantly lowering energy costs.
The only downside was routine maintenance on the workstations could no longer be performed after business hours. The client was accustomed to having security patches and other software updates installed at times that did not interfere with normal business operations.
Tobin staff helped by making it possible to toggle the computers on and off remotely. The client was "thrilled" with this simple solution.
Contact Tobin Solutions' Helpdesk to see if this "wake-up" program is available for your computers so they can be shut down at night unless a needed software update or patch is being installed. You'll save money, keep your software up-to-date with minimal disruption, and go green. |
Curing E-Mail delivery ills
Are you having trouble receiving e-mails with attachments or are intended recipients saying they didn't receive messages you sent?
There are many reasons for non-delivery of e-mail, including attachments that are too large, words in the subject or body that security programs don't like, and virus-scanning programs that won't let messages through.
When creating messages keep in mind that the default size for incoming and outgoing mail is 10 megabytes of data, and that images are frequently large files and take up more space.
Tobin Solutions can help. Call the Help Desk, describe the symptoms, and we'll prescribe a cure. |
TIP: Add Holidays to Outlook Calendar
With the summer approaching we thought a how-to on displaying holidays in the Outlook Calendar would be appropriate.
To add the holidays follow these steps
1. Open TOOLS from the menu; then select OPTIONS
2. On the PREFERENCES tab select the CALENDAR OPTIONS on the right side.
3. Click the ADD HOLIDAYS button - a list of countries appears.
4. The United States is the default, but if it is not checked, check it.
5. Close the Options windows and select July 4th on the small navigation calendar - Independence Day should be labeled in the text box at the top of the day.
Caution: Do not install the holidays more than once or they might display multiple times, and it is difficult to remove them! |
We sincerely hope you appreciate our service as much as we appreciate your business!
The best thank you we can ever receive is a referral. Who do you know who owns or manages a small business?
Even if you know they already have help, please keep in mind that you once did as well.
