Greetings!
Are you wearing your God hat? Because we don't know what is going to happen in our life this week, the Bible tells us we should put on the helmet of salvation (Ephesians 6:17). Salvation means preservation, wholeness, health and prosperity. In 1 Thessalonians 5:8 Paul says, "Let us put on as a helmet, the hope of salvation." Hope is the positive or confident expectation of good. God says, "Have hope," He wants us to have a confident expectation that good things will happen. When we have that attitude we are putting on our "helmet of salvation." Life may not be a bed of roses because we expect something good to happen to us but Jesus promises He will give us the calm that we need (John 16:33). The Bible says we are to wear our helmet of salvation to protect our mind and guard our thoughts. We are to maintain a confident expectation that good is coming our way; that God will see us through any trial we are experiencing. The trial is only temporary, that is why we can have a confident expectation of good. To keep the helmet of salvation fitting our mind properly, we must speak the Word of God. The Word of God is our "Sword of the Spirit" (Ephesians 6:17). When we speak the Word of God we are maintaining our confident expectation of good. We are to protect our mind with the helmet of salvation, which is our confident expectation of good.
God's Word in our mouth is like God speaking. In Revelation 1:6 Jesus is pictured as "out of His mouth went a two-edged sword." In the Greek, it's "two-mouthed sword". Why? Because the Word leaves God's mouth first, then it leaves ours. The devil doesn't hang around God's Word because it reminds him of Jesus and Jesus reminds him of defeat. Keep your confident expectation of good (helmet of salvation) by speaking the Word of God and you will cut the devil every time. Your God Hat is expecting that Something good is going to happen to you! Wear it! We love you!
