 Greetings!
What do Elvis, Solomon and you have in common? Just six weeks before he died, Elvis Presley was asked by a reporter, "Elvis, when you started playing music, you said that you wanted three things in life. You wanted to be rich, you wanted to be famous and you wanted to be happy. Are you happy, Elvis?" Elvis replied, "No, I am as lonely as hell."
Solomon was a man who had absolutely everything a man could want from money to women. He lived a life that many men fantasize about. He indulged every fantasy and withheld nothing from himself. The Bible says he did and had everything under the sun (Ecclesiastes 2:1-11).
God gave Solomon wisdom, favor, influence and the power to get wealth, but God didn't give him the results or outcomes of his wealth and wisdom. Solomon had everything under the sun yet he lived in despair. Solomon turned his heart away from God and was a man who turned his focus on everything under the sun.
Whenever our thoughts become earthly and focus on things under the sun, we will despair. We must remember to keep our focus on God who is above the sun. If you live life "under the sun" you will despair and always be unfulfilled and empty on the inside.
Jesus said that He wants us to have a life worth living, one that is abundant with fulfillment (John 10:10). We are meant to live life "above the sun".
God mad another man rich in Luke chapter 12. The man said to himself in verse 17, "what shall I do, since I have no room to store my wealth?" This man was also "under the sun" minded. He was preoccupied with self and earthly pursuits.
God is not against us having wealth. He is against wealth having us. Proverbs 1:32 says prosperity destroys fools. God never intended for His blessings to destroy us but we must have and use godly wisdom.
What do Elvis, Solomon and you have in common? God offers them and you the wisdom to live a fulfilled, prosperous life (3 John 2, Acts 10:34). Living life "above the sun" is what gives life purpose and fulfillment! May you enjoy life "above the sun" today. We love you!
