These numbers do not take into account the birds that were adopted and then needed their next new home. Most birds require several homes across their long lives, and Phoenix Landing takes permanent responsibility for every bird.
|
|
The Phoenix Landing Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all-volunteer organization. It was established to promote and protect the welfare of parrots through adoption, education, and refuge. Beauty comes with age, and parrots live a long time. Even the smallest parakeet can live many years. Please consider adoption first! |

ADOPTABLE BIRDS
Here are a few of our many birds looking for their new homes
|
CLEO CLEO is an 8-year old yellow nape Amazon, and he's a handsome guy! His favorite toy is a bell, and you can use it to motivate Cleo to his cage or other activities. He's a great eater, eating a wide variety of foods and Harrison's pellets. We think he lived on a farm at one time because he makes sounds like a horse. He also likes to call you to him with a hearty "Come here!!"
|
TIFFANY Tiffany is a 14-year old citron cockatoo, small and cute. She is very sweet and loving, but like most cockatoos, thrives on attention, especially with one person. Teaching her independence and expanded social skills would serve her well. She loves to dance and likes for you to sing and snap your fingers. She will laugh with you and will occasionally bark with the dogs. |
ZIGGY Ziggy is a 22-year old yellow nape Amazon and a sweetie! Like most Amazons, he would like to pick his favored person(s). He has a great appetite, and loves his veggies! He doesn't play with toys and is more of a perch potato (sound like another Amazon attribute?). He loves spray baths and then to go to his outside cage to bathe in the sun. He has a pretty good vocabulary but is generally pretty quiet. |
SKYLAR Skylar is a 16-year old blue and gold macaw. He is boisterous and enthusiastic, glad to be alive. He likes to play and pretend to be tough, and then put his head down for a sweet scratch (if you're friends, of course). One of his favorite activities is to bounce up and down on the boing, and for a happy macaw, this is a great way to exert some energy and get some exercise. |
MOJO Mojo is a 4-year old green cheek conure. He is actually more blue than green - a very unique color, with big curious eyes. One of his favorite things is to shower, the more drenching the better. If he had his way, he'd hitch a ride on your shoulder and stay there as long as possible. Green cheeks are small and quieter in comparison to the other conure species. |
LUNA Luna is a 24-year old miligold macaw. He is big, beautiful and has a commanding presence. Luna is looking for someone of his special choosing who understands that large, male macaws require our attentiveness to body language, lots of personal space, and appropriate expectations for a relationship. These remarkable and magnificent birds rightfully demand our respect, and in turn give us countless moments of awe and joy. |

WHAT'S NORMAL? HOW DO I TEACH A NEW BEHAVIOR? What do you expect from your relationship with a bird? Do you simply want a "perfect" bird or are you willing to do your part? Read Jenny's blog post at PhoenixLanding.org/blog about appropriate expectations, and remember never to take your bird's positive behaviors for granted! Are you trying to teach your bird a new behavior, but not sure how to go about it? Read how Jenny taught Henry to enjoy a tree stand, at last! http://phoenixlanding.org/blog/ |
