The results of a multi-site study of 12 hospitals that use SwabCap were presented in a recent webinar by Gregory J. Schears, M.D., physician liaison to the PICC team at his facility in Rochester, Minn.
"Cap the Connector, Save the Patient" showed that lines properly disinfected after the use of SwabCap were observed to have an average 61.6% reduction in central line-associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) at the diverse facilities.

SwabCap Poster Wins Top Prize at NACHRI Pediatric Conference

New clinical research on SwabCap® was the subject of a scientific poster that won the top prize at the 2011 annual conference of the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI).
The poster described how catheter lines properly disinfected when SwabCap was used were observed to have an overall 54.7% reduction in CLABSI's at St. Mary's Hospital for Children, in Bayside, N.Y. The hospital has an unusually vulnerable patient population.

Several new Clinical Case Studies describe hospitals' experiences with SwabCap®. They cover use of the disinfection cap in pediatric settings; in a large academic medical center; and a hospital serving a substantial number of low-income people.
