Getting Ready for Great Things in 2012!
JANUARY 2012
Oh yeah, squirrel, we can see you through the fog!

Dear FRIENDS and DONORS,

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

Your support in 2011 helped a record number of rescued animals that had no one else to turn to,and no place else to go! Each of them faced an uncertain future to terrible end; but now enjoy good food, medical care and a warm place to sleep, with people who love each and every one of them!

As a new year dawns at Animal Angels, we have already started looking forward to what we will be needing in order to improve the health and well-being of all of our rescued dogs, horses and donkeys.

Some of our great supporters have donated medical equipment that will allow us to do our own blood analyses, but we need a centrifuge. Beth's brother, Mike, has donated his electrician services to outfit our new barns and other areas with electrical power; however, we need to buy the breaker boxes, lights and floodlights, heaters, fans and other items.

We also have some underground water pipe left over from other jobs, and will need to rent ditching equipment in order to bring fresh water to outlying locations where some of our animals prefer to hang out.

When we rent the ditcher, it comes with augers, so we will be using that to put up a round pen, which will give us an area to train horses and dogs in hopes of finding them homes.

And, we have many other projects on the drawing board and all will be completed as funds allow.

2012 is starting out fast and furious, with several dogs and an old horse already needing our help. So many times, Animal Angels is the last hope for so many; and we need your help, so we can continue our fight against abuse and neglect.

  Meet our handsome boy WILSON!
Each year at Christmas, we rescue one dog from a high-kill shelter, whose time is up.
Wilson is a sweet dog, who has had a lot of injuries in his short life. We are still not sure what happened to his leg, but he doesn't let that dampen his spirits! After xrays and evaluations, we have decided that his life will be better without this twisted and broken leg, so his amputation is scheduled for this coming week. We are expecting his recovery to be about a month, and Wilson should be ready for adoption!

Animal Angels operates totally on Carole's pension and social security, and private donations from folks like you. Except for a small hay grant last year, we receive no money from the ASPCA or HSUS.

Of course, money makes our world "go round" as the song says. We are able to stretch your donation dollars with our 501(c)(3) non-tax status, and by shopping sales, scratch/dent and discontinued items that we happen to find.

We also have our "sale barn" in Jacksboro, where we can sell household items and furniture, tools, building materials, cars, toys, lawn equipment, boats, and anything else you might want to donate.  Your donations are tax-deductible and we can arrange to pick up larger donations, or you can ship boxes to us. Maybe you could even gather items for us from you neighbors and friends, and hold a charity yard sale where you are.

And finally, hosting a fundraising event would be great, too. These events can be as small as a local car-wash or bake sale, or even hosting a happy hour at your local "watering-hole" or neighborhood party!

We need YOU!!! to help us help all of these fine animals who are so deserving of our care. THANK YOU!

CHLOE, missing her rear foot, out in the intersection where she had lived for six months, was being fed by local passers-by.  We tried for several weeks to lure and trap her, but she evaded us. Finally, Matt was able to get her with a dart gun, and she came to live with us at the Sanctuary. She's adapting slowly, but is beginning to let Carole touch her, so we are hoping for the best for her. She does love her giant nylabone to play with, and sleeps on a Kuranda bed.

Animal Angels was contacted by a bloodhound rescue group out of state, to help with this young girl who was found running alone way out in the country in west Texas. Now named Annie, and spayed, she is looking for her forever home. She likes to run around outside,
is good with other dogs, and seems to really like men and bacon, but not necessarily in that order.
Or maybe that's men WITH bacon!!

Grace was found lying in the corner of a pasture, being bitten and kicked by other horses. This was after she was abandoned to starve to death by herself at another place. A neighbor saw this poor horse down, went over to her and said a prayer that she would be able to get to her feet, thus the name "Grace" was given to her, when she got up. Animal Angels now has this 25-year old sweet horse, and will protect her and care for her, for as long as she lives, never again to starve or thirst, or be mistreated. Both legs on her right side are still very weak, but should get stronger each day, with the special good food and good care she will be getting now.  She still has a very sweet temperament, and bonded right away with Beth, who trailered her and brought her to her new home.

In 2011, we were able to answer the urgent call for help whenever animals were in need, which expanded to horses and donkeys, unexpectedly. We needed barns and fencing to care for these animals in immediate and desperate need, and used a one-time small grant we had just received, to do those things quickly. This year, we are now asking for whatever assistance you can offer, to help us continue the Animal Angels mission.

As always at Animal Angels, we have no paid employees or board members. Every dollar of your donation goes directly to care and benefit our animals. We have no budget for fundraising or administration, and our "resident volunteers" dedicate 24/7/365 to work with our animals, enriching their sanctuary-life experience and preparing them for adoption hopefully.

We know that financial times are tough right now and sincerely appreciate your dedication and sacrifice, to help us help homeless animals who find themselves in bad situations, through no fault of their own.  We remain faithful to our mission, and are honored to have you with us!
