SNAPSHOT CAMERAS FRONT
PHOTO NEWS FEBRUARY 2012

Greetings!

Welcome to our February newsletter. The kids are back at school and it takes three times as long to get to work as it did in the holidays but the weather is warm and great for getting outside with your camera.
We don't have a photo challenge this month but the Waikato Branch of Forest and Bird has a photo competition with four categories to do with flora and fauna so check out the details further on.
We have another outdoor lighting workshop in March and don't forget our popular one-on-one camera lessons if you've bought or received a new SLR camera and need to know more.

You are invited to come along to our March 19 workshop to learn how to enhance your outdoor photography with reflectors, fill flash and portable lighting kits. See how flash diffusers can soften the light from your flash and reduce or eliminate harsh light and shadows so photos look more natural.
Bring your DSLR camera and flash unit and try out the flash diffusers, radio triggers and Elinchrom Quadra Set yourself - a great opportunity to try before you buy :-)  Weather permitting we will be shooting outdoors.
Pencil this date in your diary now... Monday, March 19th .  Meet at 7pm at Snapshot Cameras. $30pp.
Space is limited. Please phone (07) 838 0031 to book.

TIP... how to organise your photos using ABCs

After the hustle and bustle of Christmas and the summer holidays you probably have 100s of digital photos to organise?
Here are a few tricks called the ABC'S of photo organising from Cathi Nelson, founder of APPO (the Association of Personal Photo Organisers):

  • A is for the photos you want to keep - the photos you want to print and add to an album!
  • B is for backing up your photos - not all your photos, but the ones you would be devastated to lose. Hard drives crash and photo sites can go out of business.
  • C stands for can. That means you can delete the photos you will never print.
  • S is the most important: what story does the photo tell? Save the photos that tell a story - these are the important photos that you will want to share and see for generations.

If you want to learn more about the ABCS of photo organising (printed photos or digital), join one of Jill's photo organising classes to learn how to SORT, ORGANISE, SCAN, BACK-UP & SHARE
... or invite her to your home for a one-on-one session. More information on
this web page .

Capture the action from your point-of-view
action cams

Whether you are looking for a skiing camera, biking camera, motorsport camera or surfing camera we now have a larger selection of action-cameras to help you share the video action from your point of view? Each group of enthusiasts seems to have it's own preference for the brand of video camera they use so we have now added the GoPro brand to our range.
Now you can come into Snapshot Cameras and buy the brand of action-cam you want to capture your action in glorious HD video.
