June  2011
Photographic News

Greetings!

Have you celebrated any milestones lately? Once we make 21, it's the 25th, 50th and 75th that are celebrated in style. So Snapshot's 65th anniversary came and went in April without anyone realising it!
The subject for our June Photo Challenge (details here) is to remind our customers and friends how long the Boswell's have owned and operated Snapshot Cameras.
If you like a bit of history you can read ours here .

If you view our newsletters with Outlook 2007 they don't look as well laid out as they do when I create them.  Click here for a better version.

Photo Challenges

THEN

June's photo challenge was indeed challenging given the limitations such as days too short, weather not the best, etc. It wasn't the ideal competition to test the dual category option either with the main subject being a silhouette so most entries were in the "Pure" category. Despite this we got some good entries (view here).

And the winners are:
Pure Category - winner Alex Fitgzerald-Webb
Pure Category - runner-up Jacqui Dick
Enhanced Category - winner Steve Thomas
Enhanced Category - runner-up Brook Miller silhouette winners
NOW ...
This month's photo challenge will appeal to the creative photographers - capture the number 65 - the number of years the Boswell Family has owned and operated Snapshot Cameras. More information here..

Tagged any photos lately?

I've just discovered that you can tag photos within Windows - you don't need fancy "photo management/organising" software. Read how to tag here.
Why tag? To mark photos you want to use in a project like a PhotoBook or slideshow. If you're gathering photos from a variety of folders, search through your archives and tag any suitable photo with something like "PhotoBook". You can add additional tags to photos already tagged with something else.

When you've finished tagging you use "search" to find all photos tagged with "PhotoBook" and copy the list created to a USB stick or burn to CD and bring it in to us!

Got Photos, Family Movies, and Memorabilia? Get organised!

Who's got a hard drive full of photo image files waiting to be organised, video tapes waiting to be converted to DVD, and boxes full of family photographs waiting to be sorted and placed in albums? And who finds that every year the hard drive or box of photos gets fuller and the job becomes more daunting? Then to top it off you inherit your parents' photo collection - photos of your parents, relations, and your and your siblings childhood! Overwhelmed?

I've taken on the role of personal photo organiser and Snapshot Cameras has joined the Association of Personal Photo Organisers so I can liaise and learn from like-minded businesses around the world.

As a personal photo organiser I will show you the ABCS of sorting and organising your photos then, like a personal trainer, I will guide and motivate you to help you stay on track. Phone or email me if you think you or someone in your family could use this service.

If you think you can do it yourself but need to find out how to make the task easier I will be holding workshops that will teach you how to find the photos, organise them, and even eventually (gasp!) throw them out.

Workshops can be at our place (evenings only) or yours (daytime or evenings). Email or phone me if you want to know more or if you want me to speak to your group/organisation.

New Arrival!

We've added another person to our Snapshot family. A warm welcome to Dominic Cameron who has joined our sales team.

dominic

He has previous retail sales experience as well as a passion for photography so call in and say hi.

FREE RiffRaff postcards

If you're a RiffRaff fan pick up some fold-up postcards  up from any South End business including our great store.

See you at  FIELDAYS!

We'll be at the Fieldays again at a new site which should be very easy to find as we are right outside the Spantech Pavilion where the AgArtWear competition is held - very appropriate given that we are one of the sponsors. This also means that our staff should be able to see what the AgArtWear is all about as in the past they haven't been able to sneak away to watch any of the shows.
So if you're at the Fieldays call in and say hello.
