So you've got a good photo but can't remember which camera settings you used? Did you know that almost all digital cameras save JPEG (.jpg) files with EXIF (Exchangeable Image File)data embedded within the image file?
The EXIF data includes all the information you need about how the photo was captured including camera used, date and time a photo was taken, shutter speed, focal length, exposure compensation, metering pattern, etc.

The data provides insight about how camera settings affect photo characteristics such as exposure, depth-of-field and subject movement. Many digital camera owners use the data as a learning tool - they use it to study the effects of various camera settings and some study the EXIF data to compare successful photos against those that are not.
To view a comprehensive list of EXIF data as shown in this image download and install
XNVIEW, select the image in the browser then view / preview pane /EXIF.
In Microsoft Windows you can view a less detailed list of EXIF data by right clicking on the image, choosing Properties and then viewing the Details tab.
In Mac OS X you can click on a photo, hold CMD, and press I. Inside the new window that appears, expand the "More Info" section
