useful tool... BACKING UP IS EASY TO DO
One of the great challenges of digital photography is handling the ever-increasing collection of photos piling up on your computer's hard drive. If you don't make some kind of back-up, you risk losing your entire collection in the blink of an eye... hard-drives do fail, computers & laptops are a popular target for thieves and natural disasters can strike your home.
If you're overwhelmed by the thought of locating all your photo files scattered around your hard-drive let alone burning them to discs you need HP SimpleSave Photo, a new DVD-based back-up system for digital image files.
Simply insert a SimpleSave Photo disc into your computer's DVD drive (DVD-writer) and it immediately searches the hard disc drive for all image files. Those files are then saved onto the very same SimpleSave Photo disc. When the disc is full you are prompted to insert another disc to continue the storing process. With SimpleSave there is no software to install or learn - easy peasy! Available from Snapshot Cameras the 5-disc kit retails for $29.95. |

this month's TIP ... Portraits Outdoors at Night Next time you photograph someone outdoors at night try the "Night Portrait" function on your digital camera. This function is designed for shooting portraits against a backdrop of night scenery - not indoors.
After the flash fires to illuminate the subject, the shutter stays open for a while afterwards to expose the scenery.
Because the shutter stays open for a few seconds you need to hold the camera very steady or use a tripod to avoid blur. |
