Range USA of Memphis - September 2012 Newsletter

There is a lot going on here at Range USA! We have two big shows coming up - The Germantown Festival and Mistletoe Merchants. We have really ramped up the activity on all of our Facebook pages with tons of info, friend interaction, promotions and giveaways. We have rolled out a brand new Zombie Night website and a Zombie Night Facebook page for the Zombie Night 4 event. We just concluded a .22 pistol match and are about to start a .22 rifle match. We have several matches on deck along with a new GSSF match. We have daily deals going on with Groupon and SweetJack. We have the big Zombie Night 4 event coming up. Then right after that is the 10 year anniversary celebration. And, then right after that is the Election Night Extravaganza. We are having a HUGE 1/2 price membership promotion. We are having an NRA membership and voter registration drive. We have the SCSO seminar this month. There are Member's Hours every Saturday morning, Dates Night three times a week, group meetings, private range rentals, daily specials and a schedule of about 40 classes in September, 15 of which are permit classes! We are designing new t-shirts and creating jewelry, planning a BBQ contest, planning a 5k race, and developing a few apps for Apple and Android. Trigger Time is filming here in October, we just signed up with LWRC, and are developing a Range USA model AR rifle with a great new firearm manufacturer. We have a lot of people coming in to get their fingerprints taken, a lot of guns sales and transfers and, of course, tons of people eating in our restaurant, 1776! All this, AND handling record numbers of customers coming in to buy ammunition and shoot on the range! So, I guess it is an understatement to say that there is a lot going on at Range USA!

I list all these things, and I'm sure I've left a lot out, to make a point - Range USA has an incredible team of people that make Range USA successful! There are a lot of employees spending a lot of time and effort in making all these things happen! From the team members who provide outstanding customer service, to the people who make the Facebook and websites possible. From the amazing instructors to the cooks in 1776. From the maintenance personnel to the fingerprint technicians. From the management positions to the outreach/marketing personnel. Everyone here does an incredible job and I am so proud of every one of them!

Voter Registration and NRA Membership Drive

During the months of August and September, Range USA will be conducting a Voter Registration Drive and an NRA Membership Drive!

For every voter registration form (available at Range USA) completed and turned in, you will receive a free range pass. You can use it yourself or give it to a friend!

We will also give a free range pass to anyone who joins or renews their NRA membership at Range USA! You can use the range pass yourself or give it to a friend!

The free range passes are transferrable, never expire and are good for 2 people on the lane (an $18.00 value)!

New .22 Rifle Match Beginning Soon

Do you have an old .22 rifle sitting in the back of your closet gathering dust? Did your dad just buy you a tricked out M&P 15-22 so he can teach you to shoot? Let's put those guns to good use with the Range USA .22 Open Sight Rimfire Rifle competition. This 6 week competition will allow you to shoot our course of fire once a week for 6 weeks, using a .22 rimfire rifle with open sights only. Your lowest & highest scores will be dropped and we will average your other scores for a final tally. Top 3 winners take home Range USA gift cards whose values will be based on the number of participants in the competition.

Competition registration will be $20 and the more competitors that sign up, the bigger the prize packages. The Jackson and Memphis range will each host their own separate competitions with registration starting September 1st and going through September 23rd. The competition course of fire will start September 17 and run through October 28th, with each participant shooting once during each week. Final score tally will then take place and we will inform the winners to come get their prizes.

The ZN4 t-shirt design has been created and the details are being finalized at the screenprinters. Pre-event t-shirt sales will go on sale a few weeks before the event.
We are working on a cool idea for this year's tickets.
We are working on a small training event for those who purchase tickets in advance.
We have revamped the "experience" for this year's event to create a more "zombie apolcolypse safehouse" atmosphere.
We will have a few other zombie shirts available at this year's event along with the usual stickers, patches, and assorted swag.

SCSO Seminar Series

You may own a firearm for home protection, but the information you gain in this workshop will help you to ensure that you NEVER HAVE TO USE IT... Join us on Thursday September 6 at 6:30 for the second part of the workshop on Home Security. Last month, we learned about simple and cost-effective methods for protecting our homes and our families. This month, we will add to that by focusing on more ways to make our homes less attractive to criminals. Most of us know about the basics (using motion lights outside, installing a home alarm system, having a dog that barks at noises) but you'll be surprised to learn what else burglars look for when they are on the hunt for a vulnerable home. Seasoned law enforcement officers who have years of experience in these types of crimes will lead the workshop and answer your questions. They will inform you on common tricks and ruses that criminals use to get information and get access to your home, and they will also give you tips on what to do if you ever become a victim of a burglary. Bring something to write on because you'll definitely want to take notes. You will leave this 60-minute session equipped with valuable information that can save you lots of time, money, and even your life.

Helpful tips on keeping your home and your family safe are available each month at our FREE workshops with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office Bureau of Crime Prevention. Throughout the rest of the year, Range USA will host a series of FREE workshops led by Shelby County officers who have decades of experience and who have been trained to educate the public about how to avoid becoming a victim. These workshops are informative and interactive, giving you a rare opportunity to speak with seasoned law enforcement officers about how best to protect yourself and your family. All workshops are FREE of charge, but you must sign up in advance. Sign up now for Home Security Education on August 23!

"Member Only Hour" Announcement

ATTENTION RANGE USA MEMBERS: Announcing our "Member Only Hour".

Range USA Members (Recruit, Minute Man, Patriot, Founding Father and Lifetime Members) now have the opportunity to reserve lanes on Saturday mornings for one hour, 9am - 10am. (Over time, we may expand the Member Only Hour times) You can reserve your lane weeks in advance. If you need more than one lane, no problem, the member will receive their lane free and will pay regular rates for additional lanes (no discounts on lanes). When making reservations please include number of guests, type of target, and caliber of ammo (if needed). Breakfast will be available for you to purchase, just let us know how many will be eating, (breakfast will be served beginning at 8:30am), there will be FREE Coffee. When you arrive, simply check-in. You will know in advance which lane is yours. On your lane you'll find your target ready and ammo present. During this hour members will be able to fire .223 (our frangible ammo) and shotguns (no more waiting for Tuesday and Saturday evenings). To make your reservation please contact Mike Griffin via his email: mike.griffin@rangeusa.com. This is a "first to reserve" program, by order of email, i.e., if 15 emails are received for the 14 lanes available, the first 14 by date and time will be given the reservations. You will be able to go on a wait list; if a lane becomes available you will be contacted. Members can reserve lanes every other weekend; this will allow more members to have the opportunity to reserve a lane. Space is limited so don't wait or procrastinate!

Customer Service Representative

Range USA is currently accepting resumes and applications for Full-Time/Part-Time Sales/Customer Service positions for both, Memphis and Jackson locations. If you have previously submitted a resume/application and were not contacted, please re-submit your information. We are also hiring for management positions, but all new management must work their way up through the ranks. A fast-track program is available for those who qualify and are interested in a management position.

The job description includes, but is not limited to - customer service, cleaning, tracking and maintaining inventory, tracking sales, and basically providing outstanding service, with high quality products in a clean, comfortable environment. During slow periods, employees will be expected to perform light office work, marketing, and merchandising for Range USA. No experience is necessary. We will show you everything you will need to know.

Applicants need to be customer oriented, detail oriented, trustworthy, dependable, personable, and a quick learner with an obsession for cleanliness. Applicants also need to be able to follow directions to the letter and be able to work on their own as well as be able to work quickly in a very fast paced environment. The hours are flexible but you should be able to work at least three days a week. You do not need to be a firearms expert to work with us, you just need an outstanding attitude, a desire to learn, and the ability to always learn something new.

Apple & Android App Developer

Range USA is looking for someone to develop a few apps we have in mind. Must be have developed and released apps using both Apple and Android in the past. This is not a project for someone to learn on. This is not an employment opportunity, but more of a freelance arrangement. Compensation is negotiable and can consist of creative ways that are mutially beneficial. Please email the employment email address and include some samples of your work.

Mississippi Enhanced Permit

Chip Holland, Range USA Training Director, is certified for the Mississippi Enhanced Permit. And, Paul Brehm, Range USA Instructor, was recently certified to teach it, too.

The Mississippi gun permit does not require any training, because of this, there are very many restrictions on where a permit holder can legally carry.

Mississippi residents can apply for an Enhanced Permit once they have completed required training, OR if they have a current MS permit, they can take the training and get an endorsement on their current permit. Sign up for any permit class Chip Holland is teaching to receive this permit certificate for MS. Either way, the Enhanced Permit allows the permit holder to carry legally in far more places in Mississippi.

With the REGULAR GUN PERMIT it is A CRIME to carry a gun into:

Any police, sheriff, or Highway Patrol station or any prison or jail;

Any courthouse;

Any polling place;

Any public park;

Any school, college, university;

Any school, college, or professional sporting event;

Any establishment that serves liquor as their primary business (bar);

Any church or other place of worship.

With the ENHANCED GUN PERMIT, all of the restrictions ARE REMOVED, except: polling places,

Police, Sheriffs, or Highway Patrol stations, prisons, and jails; and courtrooms where court is in session.

The New FULL TACTICAL Menu Options from 1776

The term "Tactical" by definition means calculated, skillfully planned, and precise. That will be the new FULL TACTICAL. This is where the FULL TACTICAL menu comes into play.

Our new FULL TACTICAL menu features freshly prepared foods that are low in calories, low in carbs, and low in fat, BUT high in flavor! We understand that "fat is flavor", but raspberries have flavor and no fat. We will replace the fat with other flavors. In addition to our other full autos, we currently have a couple new fully automatic firearms in the rental case! We have our 2 LUSA's back in operation, an old British Sten gun, and an H&K MP5SD! Hurry in to rent them before they get transferred back to their home at Range USA of Jackson!

You can easily "toggle" back and forth between both sites. Also, be sure to sign up on the Jackson site if you want to receive the Range USA of Jackson newsletter, Veritas!. And, don't forget to "Like" the Range USA of Jackson Facebook page! There is a lot going on in Jackson and you might want to keep informed about it. There is also a possibility of getting a group together for a trip to Jackson to shoot rifles and have dinner. And, if there is enough interest in these trips, we will plan on making it a recurring event!
