Greetings!

     "Oh, wow. Oh, wow. Oh,wow." Those were the last words of the greatest inventor of our time, Steve Jobs, Apple Co-Founder. What fascinating words from such an innovator, such a visionary, who thinks of amazing devices decades before anyone else is capable of. I figure it would take something extraordinary to make Steve Jobs say "Oh, wow." I wonder what he saw that prompted him utter those words. We will never know for sure, but I think I have an idea. Now, I would never make a guess as to the relationship Mr. Jobs had with his Maker. I have no idea of the status of his soul and whether or not he knew Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. But, I do have a thought as to what made him say those words. I believe that Steve Jobs realized how insignificant all the Apple, Inc. products he was a part of actually were. I believe that Steve Jobs saw things so miraculous, so unbelievable that he was awe-struck and in an instant, things were put into perspective for Steve Jobs. Immediately, he saw the things of earth grow strangely dim and he saw the things of this world pass away. In the blink of an eye, eternity was a reality for Steve Jobs.

     And, in the blink of an eye, eternity will be a reality for all of us, too. Some of us sooner, some of us later. Some of us suddenly, some of us expectedly. And, in an instant, everything will be put into perspective. We will suddenly realize what was important and what was foolish. Instantaneously, we will feel the impact of what is eternal and what was temporal.

     Let's get our priorities in order now. Don't wait for death to do it for you. Focus on your relationship with Jesus Christ and all your other priorities will fall into place.

(If you haven't found the link that is the Ichthus symbol below the menu on our website, I encourage you to read it. I hope speaks to you as much as it does to me.)

In Christ Alone,

Scott, Randa, Dylan, Parker, Caden, Barrett, Lucas, and the entire Kilby Family

Mississippi Enhanced Permit

Chip Holland, Range USA Training Director, is certified for the Mississippi Enhanced Permit.

The Mississippi gun permit does not require any training, because of this, there are very many restrictions on where a permit holder can legally carry.

Mississippi residents can apply for an Enhanced Permit once they have completed required training, OR if they have a current MS permit, they can take the training and get an endorsement on their current permit. Sign up for any permit class Chip Holland is teaching to receive this permit certificate for MS. Either way, the Enhanced Permit allows the permit holder to carry legally in far more places in Mississippi.

With the REGULAR GUN PERMIT it is A CRIME to carry a gun into:

Any police, sheriff, or Highway Patrol station or any prison or jail;

Any courthouse;

Any polling place;

Any public park;

Any school, college, university;

Any school, college, or professional sporting event;

Any establishment that serves liquor as their primary business (bar);

Any church or other place of worship.

With the ENHANCED GUN PERMIT, all of the restrictions ARE REMOVED, except:

Police, Sheriffs, or Highway Patrol stations, prisons, and jails; and courtrooms where court is in session.

Flea Market

Make plans to attend the Flea Market at the Memphis Agricenter, December 3-4. Range USA will have a booth and will have great deals and deep discounts on classes! Just in time for the holidays!

Monthly Charities
Last November, I made mention of Range USA's efforts this year to help others and various charities throughout the year and not just in November and December. Well, we have this year's charities chosen and we started in February! So, please, donate to these worthwhile organizations. It could be as easy as droping the change from your transaction into the bucket. It's an easy way to make a big difference in people's lives, in Memphis and throughout the entire world!

November's Charity - Precious In His Sight Ministry

PIHS Logo

Precious In His Sight is a Christ-centered, non-profit, non-denominational evangelical 501(c)3 ministry.   Our trained volunteers stand on the sidewalk in front of the three abortion clinics in the downtown Memphis area to share the gospel, the horrible truth of abortion, and the real choice  women have when faced with an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy.  In a kind and loving manner, we offer educational and spiritual literature to women in an attempt to help them see Christ's desire that they turn away from aborting their children.

Gun Powder

The following questions may seem obvious to some TN handgun permit holders, however, our instructors receive these questions regularly. After receiving an email from a student, I decided to address these questions for all our customers.

1. Are you allowed to have hollow point ammunition for your weapon?

Yes, for self-defense (in your home or in a holster with a handgun carry permit) you should have hollow point or defensive rounds in your gun. They are designed to expand 2-3 times the original diameter hopefully helping to neutralize your attacker, and while they can go through walls and people they are more likely than targets rounds to stay inside the attacker when you aim center of mass. Target ammunition should only be used for target practice and normally factory NEW and RELOAD rounds are available for purchase at Range USA.

2. With a handgun permit are you able to walk around with a loaded gun (meaning with a chambered round)?

Whether you carry a revolver or a semi-automatic handgun with your permit you should have it loaded and ready! For a revolver this means a round in every chamber and for a semi-auto this means a loaded magazine with a round in the chamber. Then you should carry it properly in a holster that guards the trigger area and if/when it comes out of the holster your trigger finger should NOT be on the trigger or in the trigger guard. If someone tries to cause you death or bodily injury and you are afraid for your life you will NOT have time to draw the handgun and cycle the slide (for example with a semi-auto) before they kill or seriously injure you.

3. Is it legal to have a loaded shotgun in your car with you and if so, are shotguns with pistol grips allowed?

With a Tennessee handgun permit, it is legal to have a shotgun or rifle in your vehicle with a loaded magazine or magazine tube, but NO round in the chamber. We recommend shotguns that have a stock only or a stock with a pistol grip. We do not recommend a pistol grip only shotgun - these look good on TV and in the movies, but under adrenaline people raise them to their shoulders while others that shoot from the hip end up shooting too high and miss their intended target.

Do you have other questions? Send those questions to the email address below for an answer. Keep in mind it may not be the answer you see on TV, in the movies, or the answer your personal contact gave you, but it could be the answer that saves your life and/or keeps you out of jail.

 Happy Thanksgiving

It's the time of year when the leaves are changing, it's getting darker earlier, the temperature is cooling off and we're all gearing up for all the food we're going to eat and football we're going to watch on Thanksgiving Day. Every November we all take time to thank God for what He has done for us. Do we really mean it though or do we just do it because it's that time of the year we're supposed to?

In this economy and day I must admit, it is hard to be thankful. You see I recently was forced to retire from a 15 year calling/career as a Firefighter due to injuries I received on the job. When those doctors told me I would never go back to what I loved, I wasn't thankful. When I had to have two back surgeries in one year, I wasn't thankful. When I begged to be kept on the department in some other fashion and was told no at every turn, I wasn't thankful. When I was forced to take a 40% cut in pay, I wasn't thankful. When the bank called me on my birthday this year to tell me they were going to start foreclosure proceedings and put my family out on the street, I wasn't thankful.

In fact, not only was I not thankful, but I was angry, felt alone and abandoned by God! You're probably saying that I had every right to feel the way that I did. Needless to say that was the wrong attitude to have. I look back on the past two years and realize that if it wasn't for God I wouldn't have made it through all of that or what's to come. I don't know how, but the Lord has continued to keep a roof over my family's head and food on our table. He kept me from being crippled or even paralyzed after losing feeling from my waist down for 8 months while the city decided if I could have surgery.

If it wasn't for the Lord, there's no way I could have made it through 6-8 months of being in a back brace and using a walker to walk and for that I'm thankful. You see, recently the Lord showed me just how much I have to be thankful for. I am still healthy, I'm still able to walk, I still have a sane mind (depends on who you ask, I did run into burning buildings for 15yrs), I have a beautiful family that loves me, I don't miss many meals, I still have a roof over my head and the list could go on.

I was recently reading about Joseph and how he was sold into slavery by his own brothers because they were so jealous of him. Then he ended up going to jail for something that he didn't do. During all of this Joseph never once turned his back on God but continued to thank God for everything, even the bad stuff that was happening to him and God watched over Joseph and blessed him. See, God had a plan for Joseph and that was to be second in command to Pharaoh there in Egypt. Joseph could have easily cursed God for all the wrong that had been done to him, but instead he chose to be thankful and praise God through it all.

How many times have we not been thankful for the good and the bad and missed out on the blessings that God has for us? I look back over the past two years and think about all the blessings that God gave me but even more so I think about all the blessings I missed out on because I wasn't thankful. I've said all this not to get sympathy for me, but as an example. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 the Bible says; "In EVERY THING give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." There is always something to be thankful for. I should have been giving thanks that things were not worse than they were. They were bad, but at least the rest of my family had health; at least my situation did not result in TOTAL disability; in difficulty we should still be gratefully looking for the problems we were NOT asked to face, and thanking God for that. Are things better now for us? Not quite, but I'm thankful for what the Lord is doing for me regardless how big or small it may be. Just remember the Lord has a plan for you, even though you can't see it yet.

So this year, I hope not only will you give thanks at Thanksgiving but all the time, for the good and the bad times. Will it be easy? No way! So when it gets hard, just think of Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!
