Greetings! |
Well, we are one month into the new year. How are the New Year's resolutions coming? What have you resolved to do, change, or become? Have any of these worked out or have you slipped back into the "old" ways of doing things? I was listening to my wife's iPod the other day and heard a song that really spoke to me. It was a song by Matthew West entitled The Motions. Here are a few of the lyrics:
I don't wanna go through the motions
I don't wanna go one more day
without Your all consuming passion inside of me
I don't wanna spend my whole life asking,
"What if I had given everything,
instead of going through the motions?"
No matter how you want to apply these lyrics to your life, whether it be in your relationship with God, your wife or husband, your children, or to your job, or to your hobby, or to your "you fill in the blank", don't just go through the motions! Be passionate about it! To make it work, to make it be the very best it can be, you have to be deliberate about it. It has to be a priority to you. You have to make time for it. You have to be devoted to it! Otherwise, years from now, you will look back and ask yourself the hardest question many of us will ever ask ourselves, "What if?" What if I had treated my wife like she was everything to me? What if I had loved and respected my husband in spite of all his shortcomings? "What if I had spent quantity time with my children and let them really know how much I loved them? What if I had made God the priority in my life? Don't have these regrets! Do it now! Life is short and it flies by faster the older we get. It will be over in a blink!
Be deliberate. Be passionate. Don't just go through the motions.

| Monthly Charities | | Last November, I made mention of Range USA's efforts this year to help others and various charities throughout the year and not just in November and December. Well, we have this year's charities chosen and we are starting in February! So, please, donate to these worthwhile organizations. It could be as easy as droping the change from your transaction into the bucket. Then each following month, I will let all of you know how much your generosity raised for that organization. It's an easy way to make a big difference in people's lives, in Memphis and throughout the entire world! |
| February's Charity - Love Worth Finding | |
For February's organization, we chose Love Worth Finding! During the month of "love", what greater love story is there, than the love God has for His children? Be sure to check out their website for more information - www.lwf.org.
_____________________________________________________________________________
Love Worth Finding's purpose is to bring people to Christ and mature them in the faith. This happens primarily through efforts in publishing and broadcasting biblical truth.
Love Worth Finding began in 1987, as a response to several requests for tapes of messages by pastor and Bible teacher Adrian Rogers. He relates that "soon the requests began to grow to the point that we knew God was leading us into a wider ministry." As an extension of Dr. Rogers' pulpit ministry, Love Worth Finding provided that role and continues today.
Dr. Rogers stated, "I believe God wants us to proclaim the message of salvation in the power of the Holy Spirit by every means possible ... That's our commitment at Love Worth Finding." In response to many who are asking, has that purpose changed since the home-going of Dr. Rogers? No, God wants us to continue to proclaim the message of salvation. The messenger may be gone, but the message must continue. Millions still have not heard the precious name of Jesus or know His redeeming grace.
So our race is not over. We must still run -- until Jesus comes. If you believe in what God has called LWF to do, we invite you to help us proclaim God's truth. Our prayer is that you will join with us in running the race and in broadcasting the Good News that Jesus Christ is truly the greatest Love worth finding.

| Gun Powder | |
Gun Powder is a recurring article in Libertas! It is written by a female, from a female's perspective, dealing with female topics, but intended for everyone's benefit! Enjoy!
The blame game....
The Arizona shooting is on the minds of many Americans. It is on my mind for many reasons. Obviously for the grieving families and the injured who are recovering, but there has also been a lot of blame going around. Is it an American trait or a human trait to pass the blame to another person or to an inanimate object rather then give it to the person who made the decision and followed through with the action? Let's look at blaming another person first.
Sarah Palin - Okay, so she made a graphic with scope cross hairs and made some comments that could have been worded differently or better. She did not do the shooting and is not to blame for it.
Parents - Granted the shooter's parents needed to take a more active role in their child's life. After all a student who is kicked out of college, drops all his friends, and does crazy things in his back yard needs professional help. That said, I believe most parents do the best they can. There is no manual on parenting and it is easy for parents to look back and say, "we should have does this for our child." Humans need to stop blaming their parents, accept responsibility for their lives and move forward. In this case the parents did not do the shooting and are not to blame.
Bystanders - I have heard students and customers comment on the bystanders in Arizona and why no one stopped the shooter sooner before he killed and injured so many. Shootings happen in seconds not minutes. Come to the range and see how fast you can fire 10-20 rounds. Even if you change magazines it takes seconds. Then read about adrenaline and the fight-or-flight-or-freeze response. Humans freeze under adrenaline before choosing fight or flight. What would you have done if you were a bystander in Arizona that day?
Now let's look at blaming an inanimate object. This is by far the craziest area of blame. Think about it.....Do pencils misspell words or do people? Do vehicles injure people and take lives or do the drivers? Do guns shoot people or do people shoot people?
Guns - So he used a gun....he bought it legally and there was nothing in his background that would have stopped him. Some in Washington are suggesting gun control laws and stronger requirements with background checks. It is proven that tighter gun laws do not correlate with less crime. And in this case a stronger background check or waiting period would not have stopped the shooting. The gun was purchased on November 30, 2010 and used in the attack in January. Criminals and sick individuals will always find a way to achieve their evil whether by knife, gun, bomb, hijacked plane, and so on. Guns and magazines are not to blame.
Can we please stop passing the blame for what we do and for what others do? Instead let's be accountable to ourselves to the decisions we make and actions we take. If you have someone troubled in your life help them! Then come to Range USA and practice, take a class to learn more skills and improve the ones you have. Learn to manage your fight or flight response based on the situation you encounter. Prepare yourself for the world we create and live within.
