Well it definately April! Rain, Snow, Rain, Snow. Spring's here....NO it's not!
Even with the wet spring weather I love the promise of warmer, sunnier days that beckon us outside and into activity. It's motivating. And motivation is the power to persist and do more with ourselves and our time.
Spring means more daylight, more sun, and hopefully, more fitness. I like this!

Petal Pretty Makeup Look
Spring is the perfect time to step away from the smokey eyes and play with softer, sweeter makeup. Here is a delicate, rosy look to make you feel fresh and happy.
Let's begin with blush so the rest of the makeup stays in balance and we don't end up looking clownish:
- Apply plenty of blush in a soft pink shade like Barely Rose. Smile to make the apples of the cheeks pop out. Try the Dome Brush with this to get plenty of color on the cheek, swirling it around the apple and blending to soften the edges. Avoid applying it too high on the cheeks, as this can make your eyes look red and tired.
- Use the White Fan Brush to apply Rose Gold 24-Karat Gold Dust on the tops of cheeks: tap a bit of the 24-Karat into the lid of the jar, pinch the brush together between your fingers and dip the ends into the gold dust. Let go of the bristles, tap off excess back into the lid, and sweep it across the tops of your cheeks. If you like, repeat for a more shimmery look.
- Use your ring finger to pat Petal Lid Primer onto the entire eyelid area, right up to the brow bone. Use enough so you see a subtle glow, but not so much that it creases.
- Apply one of the brighter shades of Mystikol to line the eyes, top and bottom; try Aquamarine, Amethyst, or Citrine if you want something more neutral. This is a delicate look, not smokey, so use the pointy tip to get a nice thin line. Be sure to work it into the lash line. A trick for lining the top lashes is to lean your head back slightly and look down your nose into the mirror. Keep your eyes open as you work the color into your lash line. Your lashes will wiggle a bit when you're doing it right. To apply liner close to the bottom lashes, tilt your chin down, then look up at the mirror.
- For lush lashes, apply Lash Extender & Conditioner to top and bottom lashes, and then top with several coats of Longest Lash Mascara in your favorite shade.
- Pretty lips start with a layer of Lip Drink. Next, run your finger around the lid of the 24-Karat Rose Gold to pick up a small amount, then tap it into your lips. This gives a glowing, soft finish; if you love gloss, top with Just Gloss.

Many people are pleased with the appearance of their neck, but others, both young and old, are very self-conscious about the appearance of their neck. Some complain their neck looks too fleshly, or that it lacks definition. Most refer to the problem as a "turkey neck."
This unattractive neck can result from a variety of conditions. Overweight is one condition that can cause the neck to appear obtuse. Other causes may be a genetic predisposition to having a significant amount of fat in the jaw. Age can also cause the skin to droop and make the jawline appear jowly. Then there are those suffering from a condition known as retrognathia, where the jaw recedes and makes it look as if the person has no chin or jawline.
A neck lift provides a solution to people searching to improve the appearance of the neck and under the jaw line. This is designed to reduce the look of loose, sagging skin. Keep in mind that this procedure will not rejuvenate the facial area. A neck lift can be performed alone, or in conjunction with other procedures including face lift and chin augmentation. Combined, these procedures can provide a complete facial makeover. A neck lift can even give some people the appearance of lost weight.

Excess skin and unwanted fat deposits under the chin and along the neck can give the appearance of fullness or sagginess. Aside from overweight patients or those with age-related droopiness along the neck and chin, many younger patients with normal or ideal body fat have excess fat in these areas due to heredity or other factors. For these patients, liposuction of the chin and neck slims and tightens the area to improve its appearance. When performed properly, liposuction creates smooth contours with minimal unevenness or dimpling. Generally, chin and neck liposuction is performed through a single three-millimeter incision in the shadowed area below the chin. The entire neck and jowl area can be treated through this single small incision, resulting in a tiny, inconspicuous scar. Liposuction of the neck is often performed simultaneously with neck lift, during which Dr. Kennedy tightens the muscles of the neck and removes the excess skin that causes sagginess. To complete neck lift with smooth, natural results, facial liposuction techniques provide an ideal method for refining and finishing the initial outcome of the lift. Liposuction of the chin may also be performed to refine the results of facelift or a chin augmentation/reduction procedure.

Whether you are trying to keep your job, get a job, or just avoid aging like your parents, we all feel the demand to look our best. Several recent studies show that both men and women are concerned about their appearance and willing to take action to improve it.
An interesting survey of 10,000 people by Saga magazine revealed that people over 50 are more cognizant regarding their aging appearance, with 62 percent believing they are more likely to be judged on their appearance than previous generations. Cosmetic surgery has nearly doubled when compared to a generation ago. And men are now 14 times more likely to use anti-wrinkle cream, with 10 percent currently using some sort of age-defying serum.
The Heat Group surveyed 500 female employees and found that one fifth of working women state they would consider cosmetic surgery to further their career. Approximately 30 percent reported discrimination at work based on their looks. And 40 percent affirmed that they knew of a co-worker who had been hired or promoted due to physical attractiveness rather than job performance.
According to facial plastic surgeons surveyed by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the latest trends in 2009 were people requesting cosmetic surgery to remain competitive in the workplace (80 percent agree), patients being more educated about plastic surgery (77 percent), and more use of non-surgical procedures to delay surgical procedures (72 percent).
The most common non-surgical procedure for both men and women was Botox. Overall, these non-surgical procedures increased by 79 percent in 2009 compared to 2008 data. The economy most likely influenced the growing trend of consumers having less-costly, less invasive procedures. Also, there is a shorter recovery time, which often means more immediate results and a return to work the following day. Typical improvements include reducing frown lines (Botox), softening deep wrinkles (filler injections), and smoothing skin (laser resurfacing, chemical peel, or microdermabrasion).
The most common surgical procedure for women was the facelift; rhinoplasty was the most popular procedure for men. Surgical cosmetic procedures increased by 13 percent and reconstructive procedures also increased by 31 percent in 2009.
