Beyond Evergreen

We Flipped The Switch!
Yes, our web site is up and running. Check us out at www.goevergreen.net  We have a number of informative areas on the site. The technical resources page will be the repository for informative links. Here you can find links to a wide range of helpful web sites. From technical forums to recycling resources, we think you will find a lot of helpful links there. You may also learn more about how Evergreen is making the servicing of Xerox Wide Format a greener, and more profitable undertaking.

Looking for Knights to join me in my quest for The Holy 6204/6279 Grail!

The Black KnightWe left our coconut shells in Mercia with a pair of European swallows. Now we are on a crusade to rid the world of build-up on the mag rollers of the 6204 & 6279. There are several plans for our attack, but we need volunteers to join us on our quest.
If you be men and women of valor, then begin saving your failed metering blades from either of these products. Send us your contact information tied to the foot of an African or European swallow. Once we have prototypes of the new design in hand, we will send them to our Knights of the Round Table for testing.

Are you with me??? If so, drop a note to Sir Carl at cbyrne@govergreen.net  We will then coordinate our plan of attack.

As a reward, all members of this intrepid band will earn discounts for their respective dealerships on the resulting production version of metering blades.

The first two people who respond to this call to arms will receive copies of Monty Python's Holy Grail as inspiration for the quest we are about to undertake. Act now before the Knights Who Say NEEE attack!

Bubba and gear

Bubba says,

"Check out this gear!"

Have you had it with excessive service calls generated by failed fuser drive gears in customer's 8850's & 510's? Then we have the answer for you!

Evergreen has re-engineered this notorious drive gear, and is having them produced using a modern engineered plastic. This material is specifically formulated to withstand the rigors of the 8850/510 fuser area. The new fuser gear from Evergreen comes with a life time warrantee; except in the case of fuser bearing failures. (Don't fret, we are working on resolving the bearing problem as well!)

Evergreen's fuser gears look entirely different from what you are used to seeing. We don't add nasty colorants to our gears; instead what you will see is the natural coloration of the high test polymer these gears are made from. (They look as if there is gold added to the gears!)

Along with providing a long lasting fuser drive gear, we offer a cost free means to have the failed gears recycled. This will be one less part contributing to your local landfill! Give us a shout to be among the first to get your hands on this innovative gear. Also ask us about Evergreen's volume discount program.

Another Way To Learn & Share

The Printer Network is yet another technical forum for the exchange of knowledge and questions. One of the nice things about this forum, is that there are so many different categories. You will find sections for most brands of small and wide format equipment.

This site will prove to be a real help for those dealers who service a wide range of manufacturer's products.

6204 & 6279 Mag Roller Issues   6204 Mag Roll Cropped
             (Continued)

Last month we discussed techniques for cleaning the magnetic rollers in these machines. Since then, we received an excellent idea from Tim with Metro Repro. Tim has found a way to clean the mag rolls without the use of solvents. Using a Xerox Rust Eraser (P.N. 043P00060) Tim has found you may clean off the toner residue without a lot of mess or noxious fumes. Just rub the build-up areas with the rust eraser. If you are careful, the toner residue will come off without scratching the roller. You will need to vacuum the debris that results, and it is advisable to do this with the roller out of the housing. You would not want any of the grit from the cleaning process to reenter the housing! Our thanks go out to Tim for that suggestion.

More on 510 Developer Bead Carryover
Cropped Electrometer Board
Our article last month regarding disconnecting the 8850/510 electrometer received a much larger response than we had expected. We even heard from representatives within Xerox on this one!

For all the details on the various responses, see the entry covering the subject on The Xerox Forum You will also find more details from Mike in NY about how he and George manage the Xerographic process once the electrometer is taken out of the loop.

The official stance from Xerox is that the electrometer plays a critical role in managing the Xerographic process in the 510. An alternate suggestion to disconnecting the electrometer is to increase toner density to the top end of the recommended range. Using adjustment 9.3 and test pattern 82P520, adjust the density to 1.4. This makes perfect sense, as an undertoned development system would tend to pull more developer beads than a properly toned one would. Take a look at the toner density on your next service call. If the density is not at 1.4, increase it and see whether this helps with bead carry over. Let us know what you find!

If you have an innovative approach to bead carry-over, or other machine problems; drop us a line. We will evaluate your suggestion and share the information with the Wide Format community.
We want your input. Let us know what subjects you would like to see discussed, and how we can improve. Drop us a note at nutsandbolts@goevergreen.net
