Greetings!
Spring has always been my favorite time of year. The changes can be breathtaking - everything from the sudden warmth on your skin to the brilliant colors that begin to errupt in the garden. The intensity of the green to come never ceases to amaze me.
Well you've probably noticed some changes here at Shelburne Health & Fitness as well. In a way, we are experiencing Spring of sorts with the arrival of Rayne Herzog, our new General Manager. I am excited about working with Rayne again. He has such passion for the health and fitness industry, and he is so incredibly happy to be back in the facility that he designed himself when he opened his own health club back in 1998.
I hope you will all help me in welcoming Rayne to the SH&F family.
This month, I am trying something new with the newsletter. You have received this newsletter either because you are currently a member with us, or because you were a member here in the past. Either way, I hope you enjoy the information within - much of it can be taken advantage of whether you are a member or not. Life Strategies for Lowering Stress
I'm sure it comes as no surprise that these are stressful times. SH&F is pleased to offer this 6-week course presented by Jill Abilock of The Wellness Equation. This series is open to members and non-members alike. You will learn how to achieve deep relaxation and thereby reduce stress. Designed for beginners, these techniques take only minutes to learn.

Race Series Open to all Levels
Have you ever thought about running in a 5K race to see if you can do it? How about participating in a walk/run with your family in the picturesque setting of Shelburne Orchards? Maybe you'd like to test your skills, strength and endurance in a sprint triathlon or perhaps you're a seasoned athlete ready to try an Olympic distance triathlon. Well SH&F and RaceVermont.com will be presenting a year's worth of racing beginning in just a few weeks.

The Spring Fling 5K
March 28, 9 am
Beginning at the Shelburne Town Hall
$20 the day of the race.

| Senior Programming Coming to SH&F |
SHF welcomes Phyllis Bartling
We are pleased to announce the addition of Phyllis Bartling to our fabulous list of instructors. Phyllis will be teaching Senior Spinning as well as Senior Mat Pilates beginning the week of March 23. Phyllis has been teaching Spinning for more than 7 years and Mat Pilates for almost 2 years, all of those have included Senior specific programming. Senior Spinning, offered at 7 am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, is designed for those who would like to participate in a community oriented ride at a lower intensity than most Spinning classes and the music is not as loud. You need not be a senior to attend. Sign-ups are not required.
Senior Mat Pilates, offered at 10 am on Tuesdays and Thursdays is specifically designed for older members. As we age many of us start to experience some degree of bone density loss. This class will be taught with your safety in mind. While it differs from other Mat Pilates classes, you still get a great Core workout, gaining strength and improving bone density! |
