Hi and welcome to our September Newsletter. With such a wet August lets hope that September can bring some late summer sunshine to warm us all up a bit and allow us to get out in our cars. We have two events FigFest North ~ 2nd September and Surrey Classic Show ~ 16th September so fingers crossed the weather will be great.
NEW WEBSITE We've been busy building the clubs new website (not the forum this will remain unchanged). It's looking fabulous with a number of really cool features one of which will allow FACEBOOK sharing direct from any page, twitter feeds and much more. The other main benefit is it will work perfectly on the Apple tablets and phones. More updates about the site over the next few months as it takes shape. Launch date is scheduled for 1st January 2013.
2013 FIGARO RALLY TO BE ANNOUNCED After a month of planning things are coming together nicely for our projected launch on the 14th September. The destination is a closely guarded secret but we are very excited about it!

WAYNE HEMINGWAY GETS A FIGGYWe all know the Figaro is a highly fashionable car but news this month that The Figaro Shop recently sold one to fashion Guru Wayne Hemingway confirms this. Wayne co-founded the Red or Dead fashion label and stores. In 1999, they sold Red or Dead and set up Hemingway Design.
HOW IT ALL STARTED...
This month we have covered an interesting event that took place last year in Tokyo's Ginza district, Nissan Ginza Gallery, Feb 27 2010 to March 24, (Car Design History of Nissan's Passion and Style (literally "functional beauty") exhibition opening event. Its wonderful to see this type of material.

I am a new member but a owner of a figaro which is poorly. Can anyone help my trusty mechanic needs to know the tightening torque for the cyclinder head to put Figgy back together again, can anyone help?
Hi. The head bolts are tightened in a sequence rather than having one simple torque setting as was the case with older cars. The sequence contains both torque figures and tightening angles just to make things more complicated! Sequence as follows: 1. oil all bolt threads before inserting into the block 2. Tighten to 29 NM 3. Tighten to 64NM 4. Loosen off to Zero NM 5. Tighten to 29NM then: Inlet side tighten by angle of 80 degrees, Exhaust side tighten by angle of 60 degrees The order in which you tighten is pretty standard starting with the middle bolt on the inlet side, then middle bolt on exhaust side and working diagonally outwards from the middle starting on left hand side (inlet). Your mechanic should have no problems with this - just a bit hard to explain in writing. Good luck. |
Hi there, I'm desperate for a Figaro and have carried out extensive research to find the best little beauty I can. I notice they seem to come up cheaper on eBay and I was wondering if anyone has bought one from eBay before, and if so, what was your experience?
They will be cheaper on ebay for a variety of reasons: private sale as opposed to dealer for a start. a lot are sold on auction basis and if you don't view before you buy then its incredibly risky, imo you should never buy a vehicle on ebay without giving it a thorough going over first. Remember that they are all 20 yrs old, if you are lucky the car will have been well maintained but if that is the case why would it be cheap? they are a collectable and desireable car? If you really want one then do lots of research, download the buying guide from the club site, make sure that you visit at least one dealer and test drive the fig to make sure you like it and then when you are armed with as much knowledge as possible you will be in a position to bid on an ebay sale but you also need to assess the insurance situation, even though they have small engines they can be expensive and tricky to insure due to the fact that they are imports and desireable to thieves I am not trying to put you off, we all love our figs on here but the last thing you need is to end up buying a lemon on ebay where you have little to no buyer protection. Some of our members have bought on ebay, I recently met a french owner who got his on an impulse buy through ebay and he was lucky as she was a beauty and of course a lot of the dealers use ebay but in that case you do have some after sale rights. Personally I would only buy a car on ebay that I could view beforehand.:)

About the people behind the Figaro Owners Club My son Daniel had always wanted a Figaro and after saving for years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad!) he brought an Emerald Green one in May 2008. That was it - I was hooked too! Even now we spend many a happy weekend polishing her in the garage.
We just love all that chrome... After buying the car we started searching the internet for ownership help and advice and although a forum existed there was no real club so in December 2008 we started designing and building the web site which took around 4 Months. The club was formed in February 2009 and launched on 1st March 2009.
