Hi and welcome to our Bank Holiday Figaro Owners Club June Newsletter. So much to report this month so here we go...
Fun in the Sun! Six Summer Events to attend! This month we bring you news of some great events where members can meet up and get together. If you've never attended an event before we urge you to give it a try! There is something special about joining other Figaro owners and showing off these great cars. Even a handful of Figaro's will draw a crowd of interested people and I can guarantee you will be kept busy with questions like... 'What is it'? 'How old is it'? 'How many did they make' and my personal favorite... Is your name Columbo? The Nissan Figaro has the X Factor Well, we knew this anyway but just to confirm it X Factor host Dermot O'Leary has recently purchased a stunning Figaro from The Figaro Shop. Read more
Secure your Figaro for just 99!
If you've not got around to increasing your security yet then we have news this month from Figaro Import of some fantastic offers on a range of solutions. Prices start at just 99 and include fitting! Read more
New Figaro Owners Club Facebook Campaign
After much deliberation the club has decided to advertise on Facebook for a trial period. I for one still struggle with the technology (well I am over 50!) but there's no getting away from the fact that the way people are marketed too is changing! The main benefit of Facebook advertising is that you can select exactly the target audience you want. For instance our advert will only be displayed to facebook members in the UK who are fans of the Nissan Figaro. How clever is that!!
Practical Classics Figaro Feature
We have be contacted by Practical Classics Magazine regarding a feature that they are planning to run on the Nissan Figaro.
The article will be over 5 pages and detail things from 'how to purchase a good second hand model', 'who to contact for parts and accessories', 'how the car actualy drives and handles'. The club has offered to provide any copy and imagery they require.
Figaro Buyers Guide V8 - Out Now
We are delighted to announce that our popular Figaro Buyers Guide has now been updated to Version 8! The additions include extensive tips on TEST DRIVING, AVOIDING FRAUDULENT SELLERS, HOW TO SPOT AN ILLEGAL FIGARO and UPDATED GARAGE LIST. Read more
Thank you
In April we announced that the club had raised over 300 for charity at our Ace Cafe Meeting in London. Well last month CLIC Sargent sent the club a "Thank You" Certificate. Thanks again for everyone who contributed towards the raffle.

Tips on Opening and Closing your hood - VIDEO SERIES

Whoops
Last month we mentioned that the original price of a Figaro was 1428. We thought that sounded cheap as it was in fact 187,0000 Yen which equates to around 10,000 ! This was very expensive for a car in Japan back in 1991 and some Figaro's were sold by the lottery winners for more than double the retail price!
A warm welcome to all New Members
It's great to have you on-board and thanks again for your kind donation.

Testimonials from last year "Wow what a day, Once again blessed by great weather, great people and some fantastic cars. Within 2 hours of the gate opening the site began to look fairly full and moving stands around to accomadate larger clubs had taken place. By 1pm we was looking great, loads of interesting vehicles from old time classics to hot rods. The BBQ was in full flow and we had a real buzz as the first band hit the stage. The whole day had a great feel to it, with both young and old enjoying the sights and sounds of yet another great mk showThen we got a fly pass by the red arrows, even they took time to treat us to a couple of loops, and if that wasn't good enough we had a lancaster bomber circle really low a few times followed by a hurricane and a few other small aircraft"

The Nissan Figaro has the X Factor
| Last month The Figaro Shop produced a very special car that we created for Dermot O'Leary, Radio 2 DJ and TV presenter of The X Factor, Big Brother's Little Brother and many other programmes.
The car was a birthday present for his girlfriend Dee Koppang. Dermot had already visited The Figaro Shop in advance to select the car and the colour and he chose a low mileage lapis grey model. Then Dee came down to their workshop, arriving in a blindfold! and she was introduced to the car. Toby and his his team spent some time going through leather samples and designs so she could choose her favorite style for the brand new Italian leather interior. You can see from the pictures that she chose a striking dark charcoal grey leather to contrast with the warm ivory and it looks really amazing. The car was then fully alarmed with central locking and electric boot pop and we installed USB and Mp3 compatibility. As with all Figaro Shop cars, it was fully re-sprayed and had many hours of loving restoration including a complete mechanical overhaul. A full 250 hours labour was put into the car.
If you are a dealer we would love to feature your projects - Send your pictures and story

LOOKING AFTER YOUR FIGARO - SERIES FEATURE

This series is written by Gjnorthall Factors - Nissan Figaro Specialists. The company is well respected and has been involved in maintenance, servicing and new parts supply since 1999. The documents are all copyright protected and cannot be reproduced or passed off by any 3rd party. They can be printed and used for personal use.
Figaro Servicing Checklist
This month we have probably one of the most important documents you can download for your Figaro. The Servicing Checklist below ensure that the right things are done at the right time. Infact many owners give the checklist to their garage who then sign off the sheet when the car has been serviced. This of course provides a valuable service record when selling the car.
This is document is available on PDF via our website Click here

hello parents. do you just use the normal lap sash belts to secure the baby seats? I've heard if you want to put a baby seat in the back you've got to get extra child restraint anchor points? is that so ? Ania
ANSWER 2
There's no need for any extra anchor points in the back of a Fig for child seats. The rear seat belts are three point normal ones & secure a child seat very well, even though the rear seat backrest is upright. Baz

Hi, because Mr Figs grill has lost most of the chrome i want to paint it black so i need to remove the grill, easy or hard?also is it easy to replace once finished, any advice will be greatly appreciated? Elltay
ANSWER 3
The grille simply pulls out and pushes back into place. Unclip the electrical connectors for the indicators if you want to remove the grille completely.
The clips stay fixed to the grille. If you want to remove them - give the heads a slight turn and push them out. The clips weaken with age and replacements are available.
Theft of grilles is lucrative business - they're around 250 new! There's a ready market because grilles are prone to discolouring and being broken in minor collisions. Replace 3 of the plastic clips with U-nuts and screws so that the grille is more secure and far more difficult to steal!

About the people behind the Figaro Owners Club My son Daniel had always wanted a Figaro and after saving for years (plus a small contribution from his mum and dad!) he brought an Emerald Green one in May 2008. That was it - I was hooked too! Even now we spend many a happy weekend polishing her in the garage. We just love all that chrome... After buying the car we started searching the internet for ownership help and advice and although a forum existed there was no real club so in December 2008 we started designing and building the web site which took around 4 Months.
The club was formed in February 2009 and launched on 1st March 2009.
