Resolutions
New Year's resolutions are promises that you make to yourself. Then, soon afte,r you break them and feel guilty about breaking your promise. Why do you set yourself up for such a negative experience? The reason most resolutions are broken is that they are to not specific enough. Just saying you will lose 20 pounds by Valentine's Day won't work; but if you have a plan to lose 3-5 pounds per week you can easily make it happen.
This same system works for your business. As you enter the new year, do you have a plan for how to accomplish your goals in the year ahead? It is very important that you lay out your goals for the year and then create a plan for how each will work. Without a plan you are likely to miss important steps toward your goal.
The other key to constructing your success, which also applies to resolutions, is to make your goals realistic. Proclaiming that you are going to double your customer base is a lot different than saying you will increase your base by 10% each month. The first is a daunting task, but the second is less intimidating and easier to accomplish. It is also easier to measure and revise if necessary.
Whether you are building a business or going to the grocery store, a list of goals is essential to keep you on track.
