Something to think about..

The world does not pay for what a person knows, but it pays for what a person does with what he knows."

Tips and Tricks

We want to make your life easier and less stressful so we will now add a handy tip in each issue to make that happen.

Are you as annoyed as I am with recorded phone calls? Try this; If you don't recognize the number DON'T speak first. Most of those messages are voice activated and set up to capture your number as live for their lists.  Just hang up to avoid capture, and annoyance.

Don't Look at Me

SpeakerDoes the thought of getting up in front of a group of strangers and making a speech scare you to death?  If your heart beats fast and your mouth gets dry you are probably average. The main reason is that we are afraid of looking foolish in front of other people
Actually, the audience is not there to evaluate you; they are there for the information you have to share.  Keeping this in mind is the best way to relieve the pressure and return your heartbeat to normal.
The goal of your presentation should be to share information that is meaningful to your audience.  Adding a tag about other services or how they can reach you for more information is OK, but it should not be the main focus.  They already know how to contact you; they just want to take something with them that can make them wiser or more productive.
There are several tools you can use to avoid the panic of public speaking:
   · Preparation:  Know your subject very well.  You are the expert, show it; know your stuff.
   · Practice:  Work with your mirror or with a video camera to smooth your presentation.  It should fit like a glove
   · A safety net:  Use note cards or other tricks so you sound coherent.  Flowing easily between subjects or message points makes your audience comfortable and less threatening.
   · Attitude:  Know within yourself that you have a very valuable message to deliver and can do it better than anyone else. Respect and embrace your audience; they are in charge of your future.  A positive attitude goes a long way toward your credibility, and the acceptance of your message.
Using these tools and having the right attitude will make you a successful, sought after speaker and establish you as an authority in your field.

Your Money - Your Life

I have a suggestion for a wonderful, fun, and free summer adventure. The idea is stolen from my neighbor.

Instead of building a snadbox for your kids, build a mud puddle.  Start with a big mound of dirt; you can build a border Mud Puddlearound it.  Add kid size buckets, shovels and, of course, cars and trucks.  Imagination will do the rest; especially when the garden hose is added.

Keep your camera ready because your puddle will produce some great memories. And it is OK for grownups to use the puddle; stress is not allowed.  Have fun.
