I'm here to recommend VACATION.  I've been away playing for a month. How do I get back to work after rediscovering the wonderful world of travel?  I have traveled extensively in the past, but hadn't done much recently, except for my trips to Portland. 
    This time I started with a week visiting friends in Kentucky. Kentucky is absolutely beautiful.  The whole downtown is decorated with wonderful "art" horses.  Each is nicer than the previous and designed to make you smile a feel good. 
     While I was in Elizabethtown, known locally as Etown, we went to Maker's Mark. This was one of the best tours I've ever taken anywhere.  The grounds are stunning and the welcome very warm. All the people I ran into were all very friendly, sustaining the stereotype of 'southern hospitality'. 

     Maker's Mark is intentionally inefficient; they do everything by hand and plan to keep it that way. Eventhough their production is limited; it is big enough that they are expanding into Europe and other markets. Their recipes and processes are very different than other bourbons which make them really stand out in their field.
     In both Louisville and in Etown I checked out the cemeteries.  I like to visit old cemeteries and paint mind pictures of what the people were like.  I found a General who was killed in action in the Civil War and another who fought in the Revolutionary War. WOW.  We also checked out Churchill Downs and a few neighborhoods.  I've never seen so many houses built of brick or an area that seemed so clean and well maintained.  Kentucky will definitely be on my list of places to visit again.
