North Avenue Construction Timeline |
|
Now that the long awaited construction has started on North Ave. I thought you might be interested in the timeline of the project.
Completion date for all work is December 3, 2010. Anticipated work for 2009 through the end of November includes sidewalk removal, watermain installation and underground drainage work. There will be one lane traffic conditions for this work in 2009 using flaggers. A road closure to through traffic will go into place for much of 2010, but access will be maintained for local traffic. This is necessary to reconstruct the road.
Please be patient and observe the safety of the construction crew. |

Waukegan Savanna |
|
The Lake County Forest Preserves is undertaking a master planning process for Waukegan Savanna. The master plan will outline what recreation improvements and natural resource restoration activities will occur at the preserve. We encourage you to participate in the master plannning process. Waukegan Savanna is located in the northeast portion of Lake County within the communities of Wadsworth, Waukegan and Beach Park.
The preserve is composed of many individual parcels situated on the west and east sides of Delany Road between Wadsworth Road and Yorkhouse Road; and on the west and east side of Northwestern Avenue to Green Bay Road between Yorkhouse Road and Blanchard Road. A gravel parking lot, located off Yorkhouse Road just west of Delany Road, provides access to grass walking trails and Dog Sledding Area. Waukegan Savanna is 772 acres of gently rolling terrain with a mix of agriculture fields, oak woodlands with spring woodland flowers, open fields with native prairie plants and a meandering stream bordered by wetlands and woodland. This variance in habitat supports a variety of birds including goldfinches, black-capped chickadees, ruby-crowned kinglet and red-tailed hawk. |
