Tech Tip: Scanner Maintenance
Support Tip Icon

Getting the Best Results:

The best way to maintain your scanner is to keep it clean. Once every other week, take a slightly damp washcloth (plain tap water only) and wipe down any rollers that you can see. If possible, hold the cloth against the roller while gently rotating it. This will ensure that all sides of the roller get cleaned. Never force a roller to turn. Cleaning the rollers regularly will prolong their life and result in better traction and less feeding problems.

Only use plain water to clean and wipe down your scanner! Never use alcohol or other cleaners as they may discolor the scanner's covers and will eat the rollers.

 Scanner

Always make sure that you remove all staples and paper clips from any documents that you scan. These will scratch the glass of the reading units. They can also destroy the scanners clutch motors.

Observing these tips will help keep your scanner in good condition, resulting in less down time and hassle for you.

Laserfiche Certified Professional Program Available for Laserfiche End Users
By Jason Rammelsburg
Laserfiche recently unveiled their Certified Professional Program.  Similar to other technical product certifications, the Laserfiche Certified Professional Program "is designed to provide highly accessible training to those seeking to increase their content management expertise. The program is strategically aligned with the company's mission of providing simple and elegant ECM solutions that are easy to deploy, easy to administer and easy to use."

"With millions of Laserfiche users in more than 27,000 organizations worldwide, there is a great deal of demand for convenient ways for users to further develop their content management expertise," said Nien-Ling Wacker, Laserfiche president and CEO. "We're pleased to offer our entire community a simple, accessible way of achieving this goal."

The Laserfiche Certified Professional Program is comprised of two tracks: one for engineers, and one for general users. The Technical Track consists of three Laserfiche Engineer certifications: Laserfiche Administrator I; Laserfiche Administrator II; and Laserfiche Integrator. The User track consists of three Laserfiche Specialist certifications: Capture; Records Management; and Business Process Management.

Certification classes will be offered online, at the annual Laserfiche Institute Conference and regional workshops, and at authorized Laserfiche training centers. Testing will be administered on an ongoing basis for a moderate fee. Certification training will formally commence at the company's 2010 conference in January, where there will also be an overview session outlining next steps for participation.

"By offering a rigorous yet accessible certification program, we're raising the bar for users who want to get every ounce of value out of their investment in Laserfiche," said Alex Wilson, director of the Laserfiche Certified Professional Program. "This program makes it even easier for members of our community to surmount their organizations' toughest content-related challenges and advance their careers."

Currently the only certification available is Laserfiche Administrator I.  MVi Congratulates Dan Stephenson and Jason Rammelsberg for being the first at MVi to achieve their Laserfiche CPP Administrator I certification.

A Message from the President, Bill Poulter

Employee- Bill Poulter

MVi grew by 2 full-time employees in 2009 and added 750 square feet of office space to accommodate growth in 2010. The new staff members strengthened the development and support teams as MVi continues its commitment to provide better products and services to its customers.

Dozens of customers purchased MVi Check 21 in 2009, many of which opted for Teller Check 21 to facilitate immediate check balancing with each transaction. We continue to upgrade our customers to the latest software releases. The current operating systems required for these releases include Windows Server 2003/2008, SQL Server 2005/2008, and professional versions of XP, Vista and Windows 7. Laserfiche Workflow should become the tool of choice for power users in 2010 to facilitate hands-free control over document routing, e-mail notification of work pending, and electronic content management.

MVi has entered 2010 with a busy schedule. We are working with ICUS in Hawaii to install Honolulu FCU, Molokai FCU and Wailuku FCU over the next few months. ICUS provides professional services, application services, and is a trusted adviser to many Hawaiian credit unions. We look forward to a long-term relationship with our friends at ICUS and the Hawaiian credit union community.

Did you know your members can do their own research to view receipts, statements, 1099s, checks, loans and other personal documents with MVi's e-View application. The more information you store in your Laserfiche repository, the more you empower your members to find the information they need using a single sign-on with a link to e-View. To learn more about e-View, please contact your MVi representative to schedule a webinar.

We wish you, our friends and customers, the very best in 2010.
