straightening hair to make it less curly and easier to style. You take the
puppy to obedience school, right? Why not train the hair, too. That's what a
relaxer will do, train your hair to behave. - Try the Maxi relaxer for smoother hair, zero frizz and
style-friendly hair. The process takes
an hour-and-a-half and costs $195. A retouch is recommended every four months.

The Davines Soft
Relaxer kills curls without cutting them off. This treatment has unique
conditioners for hair to combat frizz and leaves a smooth mane. This
hour-and-a-half treatment is $195.

The Thermal Hair
Relaxer by Yuko is a Japanese hair-straightening system that lasts for a year.
The process takes four to six hours, costs $200 an hour, and is great for no-hassle
looks. Just wake, wash and power blow dry (or air dry).

Kelly and I
spent six days in Italy at
the World Wide Hair Tour 2009 in Venice. We mixed it up with hair experts from more
than 40 countries and we shopped till we dropped. Literally. Much to our
surprise, we agree that fashion across the world is the same. Like here, the
colors are black, gray and shades of purple. Indeed, the world is pretty flat. Some things I noticed were American
hair color is beautiful rich and vibrant.
I am proud to say that we do amazing color here at Maxime and our
blondes are second to none and our brunettes are brilliant and shiny
tone-on-tone browns and bold and sassy reds.
I will concede the accessories department to Italy. The Italian bags, shoes, belts and jewelry
are simply extraordinary. They win!

Dry Cut
Just when you
thought haircuts from Lindsay and Alena couldn't get any better ... Well ... these
two Maxime stylists have one-upped themselves.
Last month, my dynamic duo participated in a Classic Cuts
workshop, which was given by Tigi - a leading company in fashion hair
care. The Tigi clinic focused on
dry-cutting techniques, a skill that's not taught in beauty schools. Dry-cutting is a technique that used in
salons like higher-end salons like Maxime, where the stylists are required to
continue their education. Dry-cutting is especially beneficial for really thick
hair as it's a way to lighten the look without losing length, thanks to cutting
in seamless layers. And, for very fine
hair the dry-cut technique is utilized to build lots of mind-blowing volume and
texture. The result? Double the hair!

Couture with a Conscience. At our Trunk Show there'll be high-end and
vintage designer brands like Chloe, Emilio, Pucci, Marc Jacobs, to name a few.
The event is put together by TraTutti, an online consignment shop. On Friday,
Nov. 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., the shop moves out of cyberspace into Maxime's space
for two hours of shopping, raffles, apps and bevvies.
