Brownies recycleBrownies Recycle!
Brownie Troop 254 in Yuma is initiating and administering a school-wide recycling program at Yuma Lutheran School. On September 9th, the girls painted the bins that will go in each classroom for paper, and will have recycling bins by the vending machines for cans and plastic bottles. The money they receive from the cans will be given to the San Diego Zoo through their Cans for Critters program. The girls will earn points for a special trip to the zoo in the spring.

Daisies Leave No Trace Felt ProjectDaisies Earn the Leave No Trace Patch
Daisy Troop 1569 from Casa Grande made this great felting with a Leave No Trace theme which helped them each to earn the LNT patch. The felting can be viewed at the Council offices. The girls really had a blast with the project and earning the patch and plan on doing it again this year as Brownies. For more information on Leave No Trace, see our Web site under Badges.

Donate to Girl Scouts with Employer Match
Remember that you can contribute to Sahuaro Girl Scout Council through your workplace! If your employer participates in the United Way or UA Cares workplace giving programs, or you work for Raytheon or IBM, Sahuaro Girl Scout Council is one of the member agencies to whom you can choose to designate all or part of your contributions. Please write us in! If you are an employee of the City of Tucson, Pima County, State of Arizona, or the federal government, SGSC is an approved agency with each of these government employers, so you can write in the name "Sahuaro Girl Scout Council" on the designation form, and we will be notified of your gift. If you have any questions or want more information about how to designate SGSC to receive part of your workplace giving donations, call Debbie Rich at 319-3168 or 1-800-331-6782, ext. 3168.
Banking questions
As a Council, we are changing our partner bank from Bank of American to Wells Fargo. We are in the process of making this transition. Representatives from the bank will be at your Service Unit meetings. If you or your leaders have any questions please call Debbie Rich at 319-3168 or Trudy Wilson at 319-3153. Please don't call the branch. We are working with a central representative.

Our Board of Directors voted to reimburse all troops for the $2.50 monthly service fee. The reimbursement will be transferred back into the troop account once year-end financials are received in June. Wells Fargo will provide free starter checks. If your troop wants to order a box of checks there will be a charge.

The cookie account has been moved to Wells Fargo. Deposit slips for this account will be distributed at the Cookie Training in November.

We are mailing out Wells Fargo membership account deposit slips. If leaders do not want to keep the registration fees that they have collected, they can bring the payments to the Council office or go ahead and deposit the fees into the Bank of America account.
If leaders cannot attend the Service Unit meeting they can go to a Wells Fargo branch to open an account. Two signers will need to be present to open the account. Both signers will need two forms of ID each. Wells Fargo locations will be listed on our Web site.

 Imagine If
Attention Service Unit Cookie Managers and Service Unit
Managers. Cookie Training for your level will be Saturday,
November 1, 2008 at the Resource Center.

The cookie theme this year is "Imagine If... We Could Change the World." Troops will have two goals this year. 1) What can we do that's fun and allows us to learn with our cookie proceeds? 2) What can we do with our cookie proceeds to make the world a better place? At your Service Unit Cookie Training you will have a chance to hear some great ideas on how each level can make a difference.

The Cookie Department has some exciting news that lots of you have been waiting for this. We are going paperless this year. YES! No more hand-written reports. You will only print reports from E-Budde. Are we getting excited yet? We are. Please attend your Service Unit Meetings or call your Service Unit Cookie Managers for times, dates and locations of your area training.
