I hope you all had a great holiday. It was quiet here at the studio and I enjoyed working on some new projects for 2011.

Rhythm Diatribe Workshop with Mark and Ling Shien of Helm

Enhance the power of your performance with stronger endings and transitions, Learn how to acknowledge the breaks in the music.
We will go over the cadences featured in Raqset al Sajat, you will play them on cymbals, then apply your new insight to some cadences and transitions featured in Helm Music.
*We will work on material for students to perform with Helm at Tannourine's restaurant on March 6th.

This class replaces Drills and Improv
on 19 Feb.
Sat 26 Feb, 2-4pm
Singing Workshop with Ling Shien
Learn some of the Choruses for the folkloric songs of Helm's recordings, thus acquiring a deeper understanding of Middle Eastern culture and musical styles.
We will go over the rhythms and modes used in a particular song, as well as the meaning of the words, then sing voice warm ups and that song. Since acquiring good singing skills will take time, we expand this singing workshop to meet once a month, stay tuned for future plans.
$20, drop in
