Two men from Massachusetts taking a journey across the United States to raise money and awareness for families of children with autism will pass through mid-Missouri in September. Bobby Genese and Robert Williams are walking from San Francisco, CA to Washington DC via Route 50 in memory of family friend Elias Tembenis, a child with autism who passed away in 2007 .
 During their travels through mid-
Missouri, one walker is planning a visit the Central Missouri Judevine Center for Autism, which serves individuals with autism in the local area.  Local families will be "hosting" by providing lodging and meals for the walkers, and have invited local families to greet the walkers.  The walkers usually cover between 12-20 miles a day, depending on weather and other travel factors.  So far, they have been greeted by Nevada's First Lady, interviewed on multiple radio talk shows, and are scheduled to appear in an ABC national news special segment as well as a national radio show.
