HOW DR. EARTH WORKS

  The nutrient content in each Dr. Earth product is formulated to provide the perfect nutrient ratio based on a plant's needs.  (This ratio is noted on each box and is referred to as the NPK ratio.)  Nitrogen is derived from fish meal, cottonseed meal, alfalfa meal, fish bone meal and feather meal.  Phosphorous comes from fish bone meal, cottonseed meal, alfalfa meal and soft rock phosphate.  Potassium from kelp meal, cottonseed meal, alfalfa meal and mined potassium sulphate.  The nutrients are released quickly as the beneficial soil microbes, present both in your soil and in the product, digest the ingredients.  Dr. Earth works with the natural cycle of growth feeding plants steadily, the way nature intended it.
 
Our fertilizer blends include not only the nutrients your plants need but also Pro-BioticTM, seven champion strains of beneficial soil microbes plus Ecto and Endo-Mycorrhizae that provide a wide range of functions.  These beneficial soil microbes help to breakdown organic material, making the material more readily available for absorption by the plant roots.  A reduction in fertilizer applications and better plant health can be realized by our blends ability to breakdown organic material more thoroughly than other organic fertilizers.  Other microbial benefits include a decrease in populations of unwanted soil pathogens, the degrading of complex sugars and Nitrogen fixation in the soil.  Also included in our blends is fungus extract, which provide additional enzymes for digesting organic material, Seaweed extract that contains many trace minerals and naturally occurring growth hormones, (auxins, gibberellins and Cytokinins).
 
A vital mechanism for nutrient transfer in plants lies in the bacterial process.  Bacteria's ability to breakdown the organic material and nutrients in the applied fertilizer, store them and release them immediately, as well as at a later date, increases plant performance.  Increasing biological activity in your soil through the introduction of microbes also helps to make your plants more resistant to diseases, frost and insects while contributing to optimum plant growth and health potential.  We have also added Ecto and Endo Mycorrhizae, which develop a symbiotic relationship with your garden plants, trees and lawn for increased support in absorbing nutrients and water from the soil environment.
 
In addition, as the organic material is broken down, humus is created.  Humus increases the soils ability to absorb and retain water, reduce fertilizer loss caused by wind and water erosion.  Humus helps to build a friable, workable and productive soil that is home to an abundance of macro and microorganisms. Recipe Corner

TABBOULEH

Tabbouleh is a Middle Eastern Salad containing Bulgar Wheat, vegetables, olive oil, and spices. Thanks to Lila Stanley, a Beier's employee, for this fun recipe! ENJOY!

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup Bulgar Wheat

1 cup water

2 medium firm tomatoes, diced

2 cups finely chopped flat parsley (italian)

3 sprigs finely chopped mint leaves

1 small onion, finely chopped

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

4 tablespoons olive oil

salt and pepper to taste

DIRECTIONS

Soak bulgar in water for 10 minutes. Mix tomato, parsley, mint leaves, onions, pepper and bulgar. Add lemon juice and oil and toss. Flavors develop better if allowed to chill several hours before serving.
