Get A Jumpstart On Your Vegetable Garden Garden starters save time and money
We've got a bunch of tomato and pepper varieties in stock, but did you know we also have many garden starters? These little plants give you a jumpstart on your vegetable garden.
The cool spring has made garden starters even more important. Instead of waiting for seeds to come up, till and mulch your garden space, plant our starters, and presto! Instant garden. Your crops come earlier, too--up to two or three weeks.
Starters are ideal for people who just want a small plot. Plant exactly the number you need instead of a whole seed pack. No thinning, either, because the starters are already strong.
Pot or patio gardeners love starters. Instead of weeding between rows, they're enjoying the fruits of their labors! Just because you live in an apartment doesn't mean you can't have your own fresh cukes or help the kids grow some of those cute little punkins in a bucket.
Here's a good list:
- Pumpkin (Jack-Be-Little, Pie, and Patio Pot)
- Watermelon
- Cantaloupe (Muskmelon)
- Mixed Gourds
- Brussels Sprouts (Bubbles)
- Squash (Patio Pan, Acorn, Hubbard, Butternut, Bush Buttercup, and Buttercup)
- Zucchini (Black Beauty)
- Cucumbers (Bush Crop, Slicing, Pickling, Burpless, and Straight 8)
- Broccoli (Green Comet)
- Celery (Golden Self Blanche)
- Eggplant (Dusky)
- Cauliflower (Self Blanche and Snowball)
- Kohlrabi (Early White Vienna)
- Cabbage (Golden Acre, Stonehead, Red, Discover, Hybrid O-S, Last Flat Dutch, Ball All-Seasons Mix)
- Flowering Cabbage (Brassica)
- Flowering Kale (Nagoya Mix)
Enjoy your summertime even more by saving work and money in your garden. Stop in soon, because they're going fast.

Chili and Onion Chutney (Relish)
A nice accompaniment to hamburgers, homemade chili, salads, or of course, Indian food.
1-2 fresh green or red chilies, finely chopped 1 tbsp white wine or apple cider vinegar 2 onions, finely chopped 1 tbsp lemon or lime juice 1 tbsp sugar 3 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro, mint, or parsley, or a combination of herbs
Stir all ingredients together in a small non-metallic bowl. Salt to taste. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes or cover and chill for an hour or more.
Variation: For chili and onion riata, stir 1 1/4 cups plain yogurt or sour cream into the chutney mixture. Chill for at least an hour and stir before serving.
