A quick buzz...
Greetings from Bonnie and all of us at
Beier's. We just wanted to give you a
quick buzz. There's so much going on
around here!

Tips to keep those pesky critters away

This is a complex topic, and we'll give just a few suggestions.

Try Irish Spring soap shavings to deter deer, or sprinkle blood meal in your garden. Just remember that blood meal must be reapplied after rain.

Another thing that may work is laying down a strip of durable fencing in front of the item to be protected. The deer do not like to step on this.

For trees, try stapling two-inch wide strips of white paper over the ends of the branches. The Forestry Service does this. If it doesn't do the job, you may need to fence in your trees.

Sometimes just moving a plant to a new location may save it from deer nibbling. Closer to human activity is better, although the deer are getting more daring!

Some plants are less likely to be eaten by deer, and many lists are available. Beier's carries many resistant varieties. Some may be resistant in one location but not another.

If all else fails, we have spray repellant products available. If the deer problem is severe, you may need to rotate between products every couple of years.
