Consignment News
Consignment update:
We are not able to take consignments on September 28, Monday.
Pls note: For the rest of September, We are not able to take any size 4, 10 or 14 for children. We DO need more very cool, Abercrombie/Hollister-type stuff for the 16/18/20 boys and young men, and for the junior-size girls. Last call! :) for Halloween. No Halloween will be accepted after September 30.
Some thoughts to consider: We are noticing that many of you bring consignments every week and many bring consignments more than once each week. We are also noticing that mostly when a consignor comes that often, we only accept half or less of each batch of 30 potential consignments. We'd like to suggest that you can save yourself --and us :) -- some time by being a little more choosy about what you bring to us. You can come less often and still make the same amount --or even more-- money, and we will have to spend less time looking at items that we don't think we can sell. Its a win/win. :)
When a person is shopping at a consignment store, generally he or she is looking to buy those better-quality or status brands at a bargain price. Most consignment shoppers are not looking to buy a used $4 Target item for $2. The joy is in finding the $30 Gymboree outfit for $10, the $60 Abercrombie jeans for $18, the 100% cotton, pre-shrunk Lands End outfit, the Timberland boots for $12. In addition to the bargains, one also looks for the unusual, and the different at a consignment shop. Our customers love to find the Asian and European brands that are so readily available in the Nashua area.
We are also noticing that a large amount of our consignors are just throwing a bunch of stuff in a bag with the idea that we will take what we can sell and donate the rest. You are correct, but again, I propose that you can save time and gas, AND make more money, by taking some time at home to actually wash, fold, and look over your items. Send only the the stain-free, better-quality, in-style, in-season items for consignment consideration. Give the clean, usable-but-not-sellable items to SHARE, your local clothing closet or the Salvation Army.
While we are on the subject, pls consider this: When you donate stained, ripped and dirty items to a charity, you are handing these items over to unpaid volunteers to sort. Stained or ripped items or items with broken zippers or missing buttons are of no use to a person in financial hardship because they have no means to repair them.
We ask that you be sure of the following: 1. all items have been freshly and thoroughly cleaned;
2. you have not packed more than 30 items; and
3. you have called, on the day you are coming, to confirm that we can take more of what you have to bring.
It is especially important, at this time of year, 1.that you call before you leave the house to bring consignments, to ask if we have room for more of what you want to bring. 603 886 6727 (Consider putting our telephone number into your cell phone? and/or ask us for a business card which shows our hours.) We do answer the telephone starting at 9 AM. 2. that you look at , sort, and count your consignment items at home, instead of trying to sort them in the aisles at Mother & Child.
We usually look through consignments:
Mon 10 - 6:30
Wed 10 - 6:30
Fri 10 - 6:30
Sat 10 - 6:30
We are accepting Fall/Winter items --for baby to teen and for pregnancy, and now for young adults-- that will be worn in October and November:
Below is a list to use as a guide as to what you will want to bring to us in September. We
suggest that you always call ahead to confirm, as during a given week,
we may have too much in a particular size.
- Halloween costumes that are good quality and very clean.
- Winter clothing and accessories
- Winter jackets and heavier-weight hoodies
Regarding equipment and furniture:
please call ahead to confirm that we have room for more of what you
have to sell. (We do have to be sure that all equipment and furniture,
that we sell, has not been recalled. You may want to save yourself
some time, by checking www.cpsc.gov before you pack the items in your
car.)
Remember, we no longer have a consignment toy department. (There were too many recall issues making it impossible for us to know what toys are and are not OK to sell.)

Help the Rotary Club of Nashua raise money for community projects: The Rotary Club of Nashua will launch
its' first ever online Auction! Online bidding begins October10th, 2009
and runs until November 10th, 2009 at noon. The Rotary Club of Nashua is well known for its' charitable gifts to numerous
organizations and causes in the greater Nashua area. Just this past year, one hundred children were each matched with a Rotarian for an evening of holiday shopping. Not
only did the children receive $100 to purchase gifts for their family,
but they spent an enjoyable evening with a "friend" from Rotary. Our
club members are proud to drive by the new Rotary Common in the heart
of down town Nashua. The club donated $100,000 toward the creation of
this green space for Nashua. Each Thanksgiving our club members form a
caravan to get out and deliver a complete Thanksgiving dinner to
families who would not otherwise have a holiday meal. This year we sent
our overseas service men and women care packages from home that brought
many of them to tears of joy. We sponsored safe "Prom night" at the
Nashua High schools, hosted a fishing derby for children with special
needs, provided two Nashua High School graduates with
$10,000 college scholarships and gave over $45,000 to charitable
organizations to support their work. If there is a need or a gap in
services for the families in our community our Rotary will be there to
lend a hand and ease the burden.
Your participation in this exciting
Auction will not only make your holiday shopping easy, but you will be
helping us to continue our 88 year history of service to the families
in our Nashua community. Look for more details in October. _____________________________________________________________ Please click on the logo below: It is a simple, but very effective concept.
