Here is their story:

Ramlal Khatri (Seen above and to the left) is a very talented artisan who has won prestigious national awards for his wood-block printing, a traditional art where hand-carved wood blocks are used to create patterns on fabric. He follows an environmentally-friendly process and uses 100% natural dyes. Wood-blocking has been practiced for generations, originally used to create bed sheets, for which they were given merit as artists. However, these were not very marketable products, and this artisan group began to struggle.

Handmade Expressions developed the idea of making functional products using this age-old technique as a way to preserve this traditional art. Thus, the Eco-shopper was born. Our Eco-shopper bags are reusable, washable shopping bags, made from locally-grown and woven, unbleached cotton. These are then hand-blocked using natural mineral and vegetable dyes. They have become our number 1 best selling item, which has definitely impacted Ramlal and his group.

Consignment update for September:1 World

We ask that you be sure of the following:

   1. all items have been freshly and thoroughly cleaned;
   2. you have not packed more than 30 items; and
   3. you have called, on the day you are coming, to confirm that we can take more of what you have to bring.

It is especially important, at this time of year,
that you call before you leave the house to bring consignments,
to ask if we have room for more of what you want to bring.
           603 886 6727
(Consider putting our telephone number into your cell phone?)
We do answer the telephone starting at 9 AM.

We usually look through consignments:
  Mon 10 - 6:30
  Wed 10 - 6:30
  Fri 10 - 6:30
  Sat 10 - 6:30

We are taking adult clothing.  yay!!

We have put out a call for in-style, adult clothing, amongst you, our newsletter readers.  As you are very well aware, we have limited space, so we are going to adhere to strict guidelines --from the get-go-- in order to narrow down the amount and the types of items that we will accept:
  • must be in-style (this means you bought it within the past 2 years.)
  • must be in like-brand-new condition
  • must be good quality.  Our concept is one of recycling.   Poorly-made clothing, or really-inexpensive items, will not last long enough to be used again and again.

If you have in-style, Early Fall items, in adult sizes,
we will love to look through up to 30 items and to
keep, display and sell those that we think have
the best chance of selling.

We are also accepting Fall items --for baby to teen and for pregnancy-- that will be worn in October and November:
This is a great time to bring good-quality, Halloween costumes and school clothing.

Reminder:  we accept Halloween items ONLY IN SEPTEMBER, and we do not accept any holiday or snow items until after September 1st.  We will not set up our snow gear area until later in September, so there is no hurry to bring snow gear early in the month.

Below is a list to use as a guide as to what you will want to bring to us in September. We suggest that you always call ahead to confirm, as during a given week, we may have too much in a particular size.

  • Halloween costumes that are good quality and very clean.
  • Fall, school clothing and accessories
  • jackets and hoodies

Regarding equipment and furniture:  please call ahead to confirm that we have room for more of what you have to sell.  (We do have to be sure that all equipment and furniture, that we sell, has not been recalled.  You may want to save yourself some time, by checking www.cpsc.gov before you pack the items in your car.)
