Greetings!
Hello!
I invite you to consider the info at the following website, and to spread the word to family and friends.
www.the350project.net
 The
3/50 Project supports independent, locally owned businesses by
inspiring consumer loyalty to the storefronts that directly fund their
communities.
Mission:
- To promote and strengthen brick and mortar businesses owned by people in the community
- To thank consumers for their patronage
- To expand local revenue streams by showing how a small dollar amount can translate into enormous financial stability
- To shine a light on the stark contrast between what a locally owned
brick and mortar business contributes to the local economy and the
paltry amount big boxes, franchises, chains, and internet purchases make
- To save the local economy...three stores at a time

Consignment News
Consignment update for August:
We added adult clothing to our mix of consignment product offerings. yay!!
We have put out a call for in-style, adult clothing, amongst you, our newsletter readers. As you are very well aware, we have limited space, so we are going to adhere to strict guidelines --from the get-go-- in order to narrow down the amount and the types of items that we will accept:
- must be in-style (this means you bought it within the past 2 years OR you bought it 25+ years ago, and it is BACK in style. :))
- must be in like-new condition (ok, it may be OK to buy your 4-year-old a pair of pants which have a slight stain or may have knees that are somewhat worn, but an adult is going to require anything anything that he or she will purchase will look like new.)
- must be good quality. Our concept is one of recycling. Poorly-made clothing, or really-inexpensive items, will not last long enough to be used again and again.
If you have in-style, Early Fall items, in adult sizes, we will love to look through up to 30 items and to keep, display and sell those that we think have the best chance of selling.
We are accepting Fall items that will be worn in October and November:
This is a great time to bring school uniforms --current styles only-- and like-new sneakers.
Reminder: we accept Halloween items ONLY IN SEPTEMBER, and we do not accept any holiday or snow items until after September 1st. Between now and September, we concentrate on getting the school-age children (kindergarten to college) clothed for the first few months of school.
Speaking of college kids... We have designated an area in the back-room decor department, to dorm-room decor. Now is the time to bring like-new bedding and decor for dorm life.
Below is a list to use as a guide as to what we can take in July. We
suggest that you always call ahead to confirm, as during a given week,
we may have too much in a particular size.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. We look forward to seeing you. We have room for more... baby swings pack n plays consignment hours: exersaucers M,W,F,Sa 10-6:30 jolly jumpers back-pack-style carriers universal car seat stroller frames changing tables
Regarding equipment and furniture:
please call ahead to confirm that we have room for more of what you
have to sell. (We do have to be sure that all equipment and furniture,
that we sell, has not been recalled. You may want to save yourself
some time, by checking www.cpsc.gov before you pack the items in your
car.)
(Note: We are no longer able to take toys due to more strict Consumer Product Safety Commission regulations.)

Get to know the Girls!!!
By Persia Asvaraksh
Summer has finally arrived!
Sure the sun seems to be the last one to know but we think this time off
from school should be spent getting to know your friends...the friendly staff at
Mother and Child that is. Sure you know
that Susie always has a smiling face at the register and Kelley is always busy
in that backroom, but do you know their hidden talents? We will take time every week to introduce
each of our staff to you over the summer.
Not only will we be sharing fun facts about ourselves, but we'll share
our shopping tips as well! If you ask us, we might be the store's best
customers, and as different as we are, we all seem to find something to spend
our paychecks on! After reading our
introductions, please feel free to come say hello. We'd love to talk if you also loved the Twilight series, and even better we'd
love to help you shop!
Introducing: Meghan
Meghan has been with Mother and Child for a few years now,
and we have loved every minute of it. We
are sad to see her move away to college, but we are so proud of her! She will be attending Quinnipiac this fall
studying film and international affairs.
She loves watching movies of all types, from indie flicks that not many
people have seen to old classics. Some
of her favorites are Love Actually, Singing
in the Rain and The Graduate. Meghan is one of our most positive employees,
in fact; it's very rare to see anything but a smile on her face. Because she is so full of joy and bright
energy, it's no wonder she is a natural on stage. She participates in the theater in school as
well as at Andy's Summer Playhouse. Her
favorite character to play was Toodles in Peter
Pan but playing a chicken in a Donkey
Xote (a barnyard interpretation of the classic Don Quiote) was fun too. We
wish Meghan all the best as she starts college, so come and see her before
she's gone!
Meghan
describes her style as indie, bohemian and alternative. She loves layering different styles and
pairing items you would not normally put together. Not only is her clothing eclectic but her
jewelry is too. She loves big earrings,
chucky necklaces and fun scarves. To
find her unique items, Meghan goes to antique stores, yard sales and, of
course, Mother and Child! That way she can find fun interesting things, and
they are all at great prices!
What is your favorite thing to do at Mother and Child?
I love working the register and talking to people, but I
also like putting out new clothing, that way I get to see everything that comes
in! I also love helping new mom's with
the slings, you might be shocked about how much I know about Moby Wraps.
Who would be your dream date and where would you go?
I would love to go out with Johnny Depp and I would go
anywhere he wanted, as long as the date lasted all day and night and involved
some romantic candlelight.
What is your advice to Mother and Child shoppers?
Be careful, because shopping here is an addiction! Come as often as you can because there are
always so many great new things coming in!
What is your life's philosophy , in seven words or less?
Live life to the Fullest!
What would be your advice for young girls?
Don't sell yourself short.
If you could live the life of any character (TV, book, or
movie) who would it be?
I would like to be Anne Shirley of Anne of Green Gables. She
knows who she is and she is not afraid to go for what she wants!
What do you love about shopping at Mother and Child?
I love the great prices and the wide variety of things we
have here.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise and
shock us.
I am related to Leonardo DaVinci!
What is your Mother and Child product pick?
I love the organic fruits from Under the Nile, they are so
cute and soft
